Called today at 1424 to be told after ordering a drink that food was finished despite there being a sign clearly stating it was available till 1430. Packed lunch and ignore the pub for my next visit. It was also very tired looking inside.

This historic hotel is in an amazing position surrounded on three sides by crashing waves and dramatic slate grey rocks. It was a custom house in the 19th century before being converted to a hotel. Run by a local family and owned by aristo Sir Hugh George Copplestone Bampfylde Stucley, the hotel is in a wonderful location if you like... More

We stayed at this hotel as a stop gap on a long drive back and I had fond memories of the area from about 13 years ago. I thought the price of the room was high (£100 a night) but the view was very good (as I knew it would be). The food (both at breakfast and for a meal... More

Stayed here as ideal location while walking the South West Coast Path. Big room and bathroom but inexplicably small sink! The room seemed freshly decorated. Slightly more expensive than B&Bs in the area but a good location. Evening meal was good in the nicely atmospheric pub area, but the choice was a bit limited. Breakfast was just OK, we got... More

We were walking the SWCP and this hotel is on the route so no diversion or extra walking. Excellent room and reasonable bar meal. The location is stunning. Breakfast does not start till 8:30 so if you want to get away sharpish for the long walk to Bude you need to be ready at 8:30.

Stay here at least once a year and never disappointed. The Hotel can wet away with many things because the views are spectacular from every vantage point. Must be one of the most awesome, brutal, breathtaking outlooks anywhere in the UK. Rooms are clean, beds comfortable and staff friendly. Menu, good pub grub and good choice of local real ales. Was surprised this... More

Following a dismal stay at the New Inn Clovelly this revived my enthusiasm for small British hotels. i The rooms are bright, modern and very clean. The bath water was hot which is what every walker needs! The staff are cheery and clearly enjoy their work. The bar is excellent. The menu is diverse and we had good steaks and... More

Could'nt fault it. Nice room, good views, lovely walks, Cornish Rattler & Healeys ciders, food was good value and overall it was quiet and civilised. Nothing more to say, if you need to moan about this place you certainly need to get out a bit more!! Oh, also, Bristol Rovers won that weekend, lol, UTG
