If you are doing the South West Coast Path, this hotel is a brilliant place to stay: it's perfectly situated as an overnight stop on the way from Clovelly to Bude and caters really well for walkers. The bay is fabulous and if you are lucky, as we were, sunset is a sight to behold. The pub does some good... More

Sat over looking the bay, we had a delicious cream tea. Well worth the visit for the views. Dramatic as the waves hit the rocks, but I would love to see the sea rolling in and crash into the bay's and cliffs. Free parking when we visited and a nice gift shop selling local jams and chutneys as well as... More

We ate here twice over the weekend. Both times the food was lovely, Sunday we had a roast dinner which was properly one of the best we have had in a while. We had a 10 month old baby with us and they were very accommodating. Staff were friendly. The view is stunning.

This is a good pub style hotel in a fantastic location close to walks which should not be missed. The accommodation was comfortable and staff were friendly. We found the meals were what you would expect from the pub which was probably geared towards walkers.

My family and friends enjoyed a drink and meal here. Friendly staff and cosy pub with a rustic, seafaring theme. Plenty of parking outside after a very steep single lane decent from Hartland. Stunning coastal views. Food was very good - excellent fish and chips, scampi and chicken. Draught ales were excellent. Would recommend a visit.

A wild day on the coastal path concluded at the hotel with a really deep and comfortable bath in the en-suite of our spacious bedroom. Not the most comfortable of beds, but, generally we were happy. The bar food was good. Breakfast of average quality - difficult to ascertain the difference between poached & fried eggs. In general, worth a... More

We visited one lunchtime during our holiday. This unspoilt traditional pub offered a large menu and our expectations were not too high. Two of us had salmon and cheese fish cakes and the other fish and chips. All were excellent and the fishcakes unusual and served with delicious new potatoes.

Lunch was dreadful. "Locally made" vegetable pasty contained nothing more than a grey sludge of potato(?) and cheese encased in hard, inedible pastry. Chips DIDN'T accompany it, despite being promised by the menu. Garnish was some bits of lettuce that had seen better days (several better days). We also ordered a ham and mustard sandwich that was made with fluffy... More

We visited on a foul wet and windynight so couldn't sit outside. There are no sea views from inside which is a pity - you could have been anywhere. The food is basic pub grub so if you aren't expecting too much its fine - but gastro pub it is not, though to be fair it doesn't claimto be anything... More
