Yes this is a country hotel but no it is not stuffy. The concept is very simple: relaxing atmosphere, modernized rooms, casual dining room with fresh local ingredients. My disappointment is that the place is far too busy as a country hotel, or perhaps I pick the wrong date to go. Also our room was close to the kitchen's exhaust... More

My husband booked a night here for our wedding anniversary with dinner in the restaurant. Our room off the courtyard was lovely. Beautifully comfy bed and the colours and quality of the furnishings very good. Our welcome was slightly off course. The staff were disorganised. No one at the helm?!Dinner was disappointing and breakfast was an experience. I had to ask... More

Was looking forward to lunch at "the pig" but came away hungry and disappointed. Paid £17 for three cubes of lamb, most of which was fat, with half a sliced mushroom to accompany it. Had to wait 20 minutes for our bottle of wine and was never asked again if we wanted any more drinks. Dessert was fine then had... More

Lets start by addressing some of the concerns people have below. Yes, this place is boutique and expensive on a par with a decent London hotel price. However you pay for the location, the gardens, the menu design and delivery and of course the house itself with its character. The staff are young, but what they lack in experience they... More

We were residence at Limewood and they recommended we visit, we had a late 9pm booking as it the was the night of our arrival and we have traveled for 3 hours to get to the forest. The surroundings are stunning, it really is a beautiful bar and restaurant and the service in the bar was great but dinner was... More

I visited the restaurant at The Pig with a couple of friends to celebrate a birthday- we were not disappointed. The service couldn't have been better and the food was delicious and well presented. Two of us had rack of pork with rowan berry jelly and the other had dressed Lymington crab all accompanied by thrice cooked chops and garden... More

Hopes were high. Beautiful gardens, a bustling and artfully decorated conservatory restaurant with a well informed menu. Even if the obsession over 'foraging' was a bit naff. We were served by several staff (which was probably the cause of the service issues to come) some of whom insisted on overly familiar micro-touching gestures - a tap on the shoulder here,... More

I've read some of these reviews and am surprised. We have just returned from a two night stay at the Pig and have had a wonderfully relaxing time. From the moment we arrived we were greeted by friendly, relaxed staff and it stayed that way until we left. For the first night of our stay there was no room in... More

We spent two nights here to celebrate our wedding anniversary and had a fabulous stay. From reading the reviews we were very conscious about the mixed responses regarding the service. However, we couldn't disagree more. We had four meals at the Pig and thought the food was excellent. The service was faultless too. The staff were attentive, smart/ casually dressed,... More

My second visit to The Pig I have come away with the same feelings that I did on my first trip:- "Could do better.....much better". I booked this meal online back in the winter of 2014. Also two days before I was due to go I had a telephone call confirming the booking with a staff member. Great. However when... More
