When we arrived at the front of the hotel we were a little disappointed. It didn't look anything like the photo. But the photo was taken from the rear garden, which is lovely. Beautiful lawns, flower beds and seating areas. The style is old world. The rooms are pleasant but the windows don't have any security locks so beware of... More

Thank you for your comments. I have raised the issue of window locks and your dark bathroom with the manager this morning so I hope these things will be sorted very quickly. We'd love to see you again sometime soon. More

We found this purely by accident phone rang pulled in and noticed cream teas mmmm..... sat in the lovely gardens with a delicious cream tea. Lets stay ! Got a family room which was huge but very tatty. This hotel could be amazing think crazy bear, a really old building with character if the rooms were sexed up it would... More

Thank you so much for finding us! We are aware that our rooms could do with some TLC and you'll be pleased to know that a full refurbishment plan, including the 'sexing up' of the bedrooms is planned for this year. We hope to welcome you back once this is complete....keep checking our website later in the year for news... More

Glad to know that you and your four legged friends enjoyed spending time in our Colonial Bar. We always welcome, even wet and muddy dogs and their 'pets'......it's part of the charm of the beautiful New Forest after all! We look forward to seeing you again soon. More

We spent a frustrating amount of time fiddling around with our smartphones to book a B&B in posh Brockenhurst where the impression is given that you should be grateful to spend £80 a night in an ordinary looking house ( some cheekily calling the breakfast optional and charging extra for that!) The Forest park is a old school, a Sherlock... More

This is a real rip off. Location is good but the room was very shabby with mouldy bathroom, cold, tatty furniture and it cost £120 with sub standard breakfast. It was a con having to pay extra for breakfast and I wouldn't bother as you can go into town. This hotel either needs to update or knock down its prices... More

Thank you for your comments which have been passed on to the management. We are sorry you do not seem happy with your stay, although you do not comment on whether the staff were helpful, the restaurant/bar were to your standards, the atmosphere good etc. Our prices are very much in line with other establishments in the area, regardless of... Superb location, however was disappointed and misled that breakfast was not included in the price of the room and was not prepared to pay £30 a day for 2 adults and a 2 and 4 year old. Hotel and facilities in general need updating, I am slighting concerned after notifying the hotel of the hair dryer catching on fire, that... More

Thank you for taking the time to leave your comments....I am extremely distressed by your description of a hair dryer fire and your safety concerns! This is the first I have heard of these matters and I will be raising them with the management team as a matter of urgency. We hope it won't put you off visiting us again... More

Impressive looking oldie worldly hotel in magnificent location, let down by being rather shabby and old fashioned- agree it's like staying in an elderly relatives spare room ! However the public areas are nice and the restaurant was superb, good menu , beautifully cooked and excellent attentive service. Very good dog friendly hotel and I'm sure when they finally get... Thank you for your comments, as you are aware we have plans to upgrade all our rooms in the next 12 months, but we are glad you enjoyed the public areas of the hotel. Our prices are in line with all the other B&B's and hotels in the area, but I will take your comments back to the management team... More

Our second stay here on a woucher deal. If I had paid full price I may have been disappointed, however, its quirkiness appeals to us. The room (20) is a good size and has a nice size bathroom. It faces the front of hotel and is a double room. It would benefit from a lick of paint and some new... More

This hotel has very mixed reviews. We stayed for 2 nights wowcher deal given to us by my mother , as a treat having recently finished 5 months of chemo. It was a good base to explore the area. We had a nice big room overlooking the gardens and a very comfy bed. Okay the hotel is a bit tired... More
