There must have been only about 15 or so people at this hotel when we stopped there and it showed, old, needs a total makeover not very clean poor service but it was dry as it was pouring with rain outside.Would only stay again if nowhere else to stay. More

The whole place is tired and a little shabby, rooms were adequate, warm with fully working showers and almost working tv. We were treated to a karaoke on Saturday night, which was nothing short of noise. Food was pleasant, however it wouldn't be fair not to mention that several members of our party came down with suspected gastroenteritis during our... More

This hotel is in need of a huge makeover. Our room was ok but on the ground floor and we never slept at all for traffic passing through. Food was the worst ever, my "Fresh Leek and Potato Soup" was straight out of a packet and tasted like powder. The meat in the roast dinner was out of a packet... More

Visited the hotel for a weekend break with friends.Rooms vary dependent on location.Room 218 , a twin was recently decorated , very warm and pleasant with lovely outlook onto river and street.Next door 219 was a double. The matress badly needs changed as it dipped uncomfortably in the middle. Both rooms were clean, had tea and coffee making facilities and were adequate... This is a wonderful old hotel that has so much character!! Unfortunately as is the case with so many older hotels, the money hasnt been spent over the years to maintain its grandeur, and therefore it is now in need of a serious overhall!! For all the faults with the general need of decoration this hotel was generally clean, yes... More

We stayed for one night and to be honest I am glad as I don't think I could have stayed for any longer. We stayed in this hotel 2 years ago and it was ok then but I would not rush back now. We got 5 free drinks each so that was ok but I thought there would be some... More

Taking a one night break whilst touring Scotland the Hotel looked good in pictures and the Clansmen historical slant. Big mistake, should have taken more notice of star rating and less of the special offer reduction from £110 to £60 DBB. Don't be fooled, its seriously tired in structure and staff, other than those of E. European origin who still... More

We booked the hotel for one night and stayed on the 25th of sept, I read the reviews before going and was unsure of the place. On arrival the reception is fine but when we went to our room we seen just how basic it was. The chairs in the room were ripped and you could see the foam on... More

We booked the Dreadnought Hotel up on the internet on the Sunday morning and drove up a couple of hours later. At £50 for dinner bed and breakfast it seemed a bargain and i suppose it was. Having been in the hotel a few years ago we kind of new what to expect but we thought maybe the hotel has... More

We stayed for one night at the end of a coach tour. After the reviews here I was expecting the place to be a joke. I'm pleased to say that it wasn't. Admittedly, the general décor inside looked a bit tired. Otherwise the only real disappointment was that our bathroom did not have a shower. But the room was clean,... More
