Spent a great night with my husband on Saturday night. Great food, service and location. Will be back at some time. A delightful experience. Hope to be back in the near future. Only fault I found was not having a choice for the set 5 course menu. Fortunately I liked all that was offered.

We have just spent a lovely relaxing day and night at this quirky luxurious haven celebrating our 13th wedding anniversary. Beautiful walled gardens and riverside walk to escape from everyday chaos. Lunch and dinner served in the dining room by friendly efficient staff So glad it's only an hour and a half away. Just need to twist my husbands arm... More

My husband and I were guests at a wedding on Fri 12 Sep 14. The weather was lovely and the ceremony was held at a beautiful location outside by the river. The Manager and staff went out of their way to make us all feel special and our accommodation was perfect. The meal in the large dining room was absolutely... More

We have had afternoon tea here on more than one occasion recently and it is the best we have ever had. We have also had the privilege of being involved in 2 weddings at the hotel recently and everything has been first class. Highly recommended.

We stayed for 5 nights in May this year and were fortunate to score an upgrade into a suite. This Hotel is set in beautiful grounds on the river and has a rambling old world charm although perhaps in places starting to become somewhat tired. The common rooms are large and comfy with open fires and we enjoyed some fine single... I submitted a request for a lunch reservation using the hotel's website. As there was no response after 24 hours, I called the hotel. I was passed through 4 different people none of whom appeared to have any knowledge or interest in me and simply passed me on. Eventually I was back with the same female who had originally answered... More

Having been treated royally when we visited for lunch many years ago, we decided to stay over for a night on our way from Fife to Glasgow. All public rooms are comfortable as was our bedroom (although the shower stall was minuscule!) The staff are very professional - the manager even procured a cocktail shaker from a friend to make... Absolutely lovely b&b. I travelled here with my sister on our Scotland road trip. The stairs creak, the rooms are beautiful, the beds are comfy, the bathroom products smell divine (Scotland Velvet Isle), the woods to the right are cool, the little meadow next to the bubbling stream to the left is peaceful, the staff are friendly, breakfast is plentiful,... The Roman camp is such a charming place! As soon as you arrive on the tree lined streets and see the spectacular gardens you know you are in a special place. The roman camp is older which adds to it's charm. Due to age, like everything it has small defects- a scratch or small crack here or there, a toilet... More
