We read all the reviews before booking and we must have caught them at the wrong time as our experience could not have been more different. We initially asked for 2 nights to be told that it was unavailable for the second night, fair enough as we gave short notice. We booked the garden room for 1 night as we... More

Tripadvisor lists this as being in Newton Abbot. In fact, it's just outside Ashburton - near Bickington. Pop in the car down the road and you'll be at the new cookery school within five minutes; or alternatively you'll be on the fringes of the town with it's beautiful little independent shops. Another ten minutes further in the car will take... More

Very clean, comfortable beds and very friendly hosts. English breakfast. The house and the garden are very well kept. We were there during spring and the flowers were beautiful. I would recommend it. It is very well located. You can reach the Dartmoor area with the wild ponies and the astonishing tors.

Penpark is set above the Devon Expressway and easily accessible from the Newton Abbot exit. We were greeted with warm and friendly hospitality and our hostess was exceptionally helpful throughout our visit. The house is a stylish 1920s country house, designed by a distinguished architect for a woman of means. The rooms - including the bedrooms - are therefore spacious... More

We had the pleasure to stay for 2 nights mid-July 2013. A beautiful house, room and setting. Ample opportunity for our dog to play. We even took her for breakfast (after asking the other guests). There are only 3 rooms available, all very beautiful! We enjoyed the breakfast and hospitality in the real Bed & Breakfast accommodation. Next time we... More

We spent Saturday night at Penpark, having travelled to Devon for a party. The weather was a bit miserable but the house and garden, and the views, were still stunning. We were warmly welcomed and made very comfortable in our room which was very comfortable and beautifully appointed. Breakfast was great in the lovely dining room and we were sorry... More

Whilst on a business trip we stayed overnight on 23/24 May and what a pleasure it was. We were placed in the garden room with lovely views over the garden and moorland. The room was spacious, very clean and as it was rather chilly even for late May the heating was on and the room nice and warm. We were... More

We stayed at Penpark for a very brief weekend tour of the area. I have long wanted to see the house, designed by Clough Williams-Ellis, the architect who built Portmeirion in Wales. His personaility is very much in evidence in the house, which has been superbly maintained and retains its original character, even down to the wire bell pull at... More

I would advise anyone to experience this beutiful house, run by the most attentive host. We had a most peaceful night and a delicious breakfast. We were first served tea in a beutifully furnihed sitting room, then taken to our room, with a perfect bathroom. A memorable place.

We recently stayed for 3 nights at this lovely country b and b. The situation is beautiful and so peaceful, set in lovely, very well tended gardens. Breakfast was delicious, the room very comfortable and the hostess, Maddy was absolutely charming and very helpful.
