We stayed at The Islington Hotel a while ago when we were relocating to Dartmoor. The hotel was perfectly located for exploring The National Park and also close to some spectacular coast lines. The staff at the hotel were all so friendly and helpful and having had such a great stay before we chose to celebrate our daughters tenth birthday... more

Family of 5 enjoyed an excellent stay at The Ilsington Country House Hotel this November, the level of service was unbelievable, it's nice to go into a hotel to be greeted by people who are (A) Enjoying what they do for a living and (B) English. Beds, linens, bathrooms and amenities all top quality, and what a location just on... more

We were left a little dissapointed following our stay. We primarily chose the hotel because of it's Rosette award status for the restaurant. The food on the first night was very good and each course was at the standard expected. The 2nd night however did not mirror the first night and proved very inconsistent. The main meals on the menu... more

We had a great stay in January despite the inevitable tricky weather, the hotel was warm and comfortable. Food was very good with a varied menu. The indoor pool was a bonus and very welcome. Room was clean and adequate size but nothing special; very quiet. The staff were totally helpful and they treated us (and our dog ) as... more

Its a nice enough old house with newer extensions. Breakfast room had incredible views though. The room was poorly ventilated and the bed comfortable. We had the suite (ahem) which was a standard room with a long thin room with a wardrobe (it wouldn't fit in the bedroom) small couch and TV. The view to the moor was lovely but... more

We book a weekend away to celebrate our wedding anniversary and were very lucky with the weather for September as it was glorious sunshine! This hotel really is in a stunning location with lovely views in every direction. Very comfortable bed in a well furnished room and friendly, helpful staff. The food was excellent along with the service. Would definitely... more

We attended the resturant for a meal and the food was fantastic. There was a good chioce for all 3 courses and the service was excellent. Staff were proffessional and also friendly. We will certainly be visiting again. more

Have just returned from a superb weekend away. Weather was terrible but the location more than made up for it. Excellent evening meal, great restaurant with fantastic views. Swimming pool a bonus and very welcome given the weather! Rooms very comfortable and a great breakfast. Would recommend. more

The location, just south of Haytor Vale, is charming and secluded (not the easiest to find). However, what the drive in builds up, the property gives away. The 'superior' room we were given had an old musty smell with dated decor and a bathroom which was 2 star at best. Lunch was decent but cost us GBP 30 for a... more
