The Good: Decent evening meal but it was also a first class laxative; Cheap wine; Reasonably clean room. Hot water The Bad: Tiny shower was made for pygmys Rusty toilet roll holder and waste bin Sink was weird shape - an afterthought Crap breakfast - just about the worst I've ever experienced. Do you know about tomatoes and mushrooms and... More

I visited Chippenham last monday and me and my friend decided to stay in this hotel. The price of the room is not so expensive but they can not ask for more because just for sleep and have a shower is more than enough. My room was not so bad, but I could see my bed linen was dirty (marks... More

With a work booking in Chippenham we needed somewhere we could lay our head, with breakfast preferably and at not too expensive a price. having been able to find a variety of places that match that requirement around the country in the past we hoped that we had done it again however there was a lot left to be desired.... Family of three booked via booking .com. I really wish I had read ALL reviews prior to booking. This place is a dirty and smelly hell hole. Arrived next day to find the place a total shambles. I learnt that their computer system had crashed and repair work was being carried out, it looked like a building site and cables... More

Reviews seem mixed, but we found this hotel was exactly what we wanted. We don't like the sterile corporate places where you pay for facilities that you don't need. Everything was friendly, comfortable and clean and its well located for the centre of town. A real bonus was the evening meals - cheap and delicious home cooked greek food with... More

We booked a family room at £85 with my friends, it looked beautiful and clean on the pictures and the bathroom was written to be "en-suite". When we arrived, we discovered an old building, not really good maintained... we were surprised the room was really small (not like in the pictures, fake ad.....!) and the bathroom was 2 corridors away... The Pines was absolutely fine! After reading the mixed reviews, have to admit to wondering what to expect. What I got was: a perfectly clean room with no dirt or smells, there was working WiFi, the evening meal (I went for the moussaka) was not fancy-pants cooking but was tasty and filling and a good full English breakfast the following... Our stay at here was very accommodating. Great value, friendly staff, clean rooms, and excellent food all contributed to a great weekend away. Will definitely be returning and would recommend to friends!

Having read the reviews about this hell hole and taking in to account that there were more positive than negative ones, we decided to go with the majority vote rather than the minority...how wrong could we be? After finding the details online we called the owner to arrange a booking for two nights which was more akin to ordering a... More
