So many negatives on this site review. I don't get it. I had 2 nights with my dog. I loved it and would recommend to my family and we are clean and particular people. I work in hospitality and guests mainly only comment negatively. Shame really as this 2 day break was a pleasure. Get a grip folks, do without... More

We had booked Heronshaw House as a bridal party for the night before the wedding and for a few of us to stay the night of the wedding too. We thought it would be the perfect, picturesque location for a lovely girly send off for our best friend, the bride. How wrong could we be? The place was literally covered... More

I agree with previous reviews; the house does smell of dog (we noticed this even though we have a dog at home ourselves). It was also disappointing that breakfast was not included. However, my main issue was the attitude of the owners who I found to be incredibly condescending and rude. I would not recommend.

We stayed for a night, booking 2 rooms for ourselves, 2 daughters and 2 dogs. I was a little worried having read detrimental reviews however, we were really pleased with our stay. Yes, the rooms are a little basic but we found them to be very clean and had all that we needed for a nights stay. The setting of... More

I don't like writing negative reviews but after checking the the house's publicity material from booking.com (which had informed my initial booking) I thought it only right to feedback my experience at this place, fairly and honestly. I stayed at this house for 2 nights while visiting my cousin in Wimbourne. I chose it over some much cheaper places in... More

Well I need to go out by 5pm so ...........avoid! Smells bad inside. Cow smell outside acceptable, but the inside smell is wet dog. And the cobwebs I'm sure are holding up the building ! The shower pours water on the bathroom floor because the shower tray is in round the wrong way! Carpets stained. DEAD flowers in lounge and... More

We were really looking forward to staying the night in what looked like an excellent place .We had our granddaughter with us for a special weekend, and had booked a family room. The room we were shown had dreadful stains on the carpet and, we were offered a mattress on the floor for our granddaughter. When we said that was... More

Heronshaw House has so much potential - sadly the owners have an over inflated sense of importance and can be downright rude at times. We were made to feel like we were a nuisance and that they were doing us some sort of favour letting us stay there. Despite the fact we had paid a small fortune! Since booking they... More

Dirty carpets throughout. Very bare basic room, house in need of much TLC. Over priced. No evening meal available. Tea & coffee making facility in room but builders mugs provided. Breakfast was average. Will not be returning!

My husband and myself took his parents to Bournemouth as we had bought them tickets to see James Last. We spent quite a while on the internet searching for a hotel to stay at. My husband chose a few but I 'overuled' his choices as I felt that Heronshaw House looked more their 'cup of tea'. How disappointed I was... More

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
We offer superior accommodation and great local food - ideal for a family celebration, a house party with friends, or just a pampered, relaxing weekend break. Heronshaw House at Hurn is a traditional 17th century stone-built farmhouse, with various brick modifications over the centuries, on the edges of the New Forest, in traditional farmland and therefore quiet, but surprisingly very close to all major transportation and Bournemouth Airport. Bournemouth centre is just 10 or 12 minutes away with its wonderful beaches and lovely town centre. ... more   less
