First the positive things about this Hotel: Lovely position. Quiet, comfortable room. Landlord, after some fuss, kindly changed our date to the next day as we made a mistake. On booking.com they ask for the money up-front, which is unusual. So make sure you have the right date! Things to consider before booking: Lack of people skills of Landlord, Breakfast... More

After booking a 3 night stay at Heronshaw House I read the reviews so was a bit worried by some of them! We had no reason to be worried because on our arrival we were greeted by the very nice friendly owner and were shown our room. It was a very cosy one with tea/coffee facilities and a fridge for... This property should not be 4 star, it smelt of dogs throughout the place, it had dirty stained carpets, dead flies in the room, cobwebs, and the shower needed a good clean with bleach. There were no bathrobes, slippers, no TV in room, and only a small pot with tea and coffee in and not even sealed tea bags! Two... More

Positives: It is a beautiful house with good size rooms. Lovely countryside location. Negatives: - No sign posts (which would have made finding the place much easier!) - Bathroom was in need of a good clean, and toilet was in need of a good flush!!! (A no.2 from previous guests presumably!!). Plus cobwebs & dust throughout bedroom and bathroom. -... More

Well having read some of the previous reviews for Heronshaw We didn't know quite what to expect. We were greated by the very friendly owner and his wife and shown our room which was superb with crisp white linen on the extremely comfortable beds lovely white towels and comfy pillows. The shower was as described very nice I will agree... More

Heronshaw House was recommended to my husband a few weeks ago when he was away on business. He rang to say what a nice family break it would make, and I promptly looked on Tripadvisor! Against my 'advice' he booked the family in for a short break. With three children, we took two adjoining rooms. The rooms were clean and... More

So many negatives on this site review. I don't get it. I had 2 nights with my dog. I loved it and would recommend to my family and we are clean and particular people. I work in hospitality and guests mainly only comment negatively. Shame really as this 2 day break was a pleasure. Get a grip folks, do without... More

We had booked Heronshaw House as a bridal party for the night before the wedding and for a few of us to stay the night of the wedding too. We thought it would be the perfect, picturesque location for a lovely girly send off for our best friend, the bride. How wrong could we be? The place was literally covered... More

I agree with previous reviews; the house does smell of dog (we noticed this even though we have a dog at home ourselves). It was also disappointing that breakfast was not included. However, my main issue was the attitude of the owners who I found to be incredibly condescending and rude. I would not recommend.

We stayed for a night, booking 2 rooms for ourselves, 2 daughters and 2 dogs. I was a little worried having read detrimental reviews however, we were really pleased with our stay. Yes, the rooms are a little basic but we found them to be very clean and had all that we needed for a nights stay. The setting of... More
