We were staying at the Speech House Hotel only for one night but it was also long enough... the hotel is located in the middle of Forest of Dean and promised to be a luxurious house, in a peaceful and quiet surrounding...all together the perfect place to to enjoy the nature. But besides the unclean rooms (we had two double... more

The hotel website makes it look a lot better than it is in reality, but for the price it seemed an OK hotel. The check in staff were friendly and efficient the downside for me was the bed. It was more than uncomfortable, it was knackered! One side of it tipped down so when I looked over to my partner... more

I was not booked into this accommodation, but due to an accident closing the road during extreme inclement weather was unable to stay in the original reserved hotel. After a 3.5 hour journey, I had been stuck for a further hour in freezing temperatures, awaiting the road to be cleared. I arrived late at this hotel with 2 children, and... more

One night business trip. Stayed in one of the rooms in the car park. Good size, clean comfortable but no bath. Food good, beer ok, breakfast good. Only downside was wifi reception rubbish, mobile reception rubbish, tv reception rubbish - you have to walk down the road a wee way (when those eyes are watching...) Will stay here again. more

We stayed in a room within the main hotel which had a four poster bed - which was quite amazing. However the hotel seemed a bit dowdy and tired. The rooms were single glazed and you could hear road noise. The bathroom would have looked good in 1985 - the curtains in the bathroom were ripped, one of the bedroom... more

The Speech House is a really characterful and historic old place in the heart of Forest, with walks starting at the hotel. There are rooms in the main building (I once had a huge room with a four-poster but there was a lot of traffic noise), and rooms in a variety of buildings in the car park. Our room here... more

The Speech House is a fine old building in a beautiful location, and is great for exploring the Forest of Dean, with many good walks starting within a couple of hundred yards of the hotel. Yes, it could do with some general updating and some of the furniture and fittings look a little tired, but it's a case of 'faded... more

Stayed here one night as part of a tour. We were in row of rooms beside the main hotel, which was fine. We had a quad room for 3 of us - the "master" section was actually separated from the two twin beds, which were all completely separated from the bathroom. One of the biggest hotel rooms we stayed in... more

Having been to the hotel before and stayed in the main part and also had meals in the restaurant we expected a similar standard. My wife is partially disabled now so we asked for a room in the chalet style cabins and for three nights required were quoted a reasonable price. However on booking in the receptionist informed us that... more

With few epectations, we booked because it was on our rout. A very pleasant surprise:staff were young, attractive, helpful, and eager to please. Fine walking on the door step in the Forest of Dean, We had avery large and comfortable room at a reasonable price (considering the overall UK prices, An interesting history. Wld be happy to return for a... more
