My wife and I needed a single night, so we could view properties in the area. This one came up in the search and sounded promising. Considering the prices and the promotional blurb, it turned out to be no more than an average place to stay. I suspect for the golfers and bowlers it has some special cache; there's both... More

Was attending a wedding at a nearby wedding, was very impressed with the Bells Hotel. A large carpark is a godsend and the reception staff were helpful and attentive. The bar next door is also useful if you fancy a drink or breakfast. The room was what others have said: a little dated but certainly very comfortable. One slight downside... More

We stayed in Edenwall House one of the self catering cottages on the site (sleeps 4). Our children aged 10 and 13 and our black lab had a fantastic holiday the cottage was clean, spacious and very homely. As someone else said the pictures do not do it justice the rooms are much bigger than I expected, even had a... More

Given its price I felt its a avg hotel. It failed in many ways. !stly the beds were aweful ... you can feel the springs. The breakfast was not good at all... we reached there at 9:50 and we had to ask for bread, milk, egg as everything was empty on Sunday which is one of their busy days.

The hotel, restaurant and club house were all excellent. The rooms were spacious and staff more than helpful. We were a group who went to play golf for couple of days in July. The fairway and general condition of the course was very good. However, the green keeper staff and golf management are very lazy and make a good course... More

Just some thoughts on the Bells hotel I have been on a golf break to the Bells hotel, we have been before therefore I really should know what to expect. Firstly the golf course, testing and has some really nice looking holes, it's in reasonable condition but the pace of play is dictated by two things, 1,too many players on... More

Pros: - Comfortable beds - Lots of TV channels - Comfortable seating - Large rooms - Glass door shower - Large bathroom - Friendly staff Cons: - Paper thin walls meaning you can hear people in the adjacent room(s), as well as those in the hallway - Shower kept switching between warm and cold every couple of minutes

A pleasant setting in a quiet area, first impressions from the outside did not reflect the quality inside. The ground floor rooms were noisy due to creaking floors and constant opening of doors by people through traffic. Staff were very good and helpful. The dining room and bars were across a car park from the Hotel rooms and a gauntlet... More

Unassuming from the outside, this is a little gem. Lovely room, good location in the Forest of Dean, friendly, helpful staff. Booked online for £55 for a double (Non-refundable), initially allocated a twin, but this was rectified within minutes. Good room, comfortable, well stocked with tea, coffee etc. Overlooking the golf course, good view, birds singing, had a lovely night.... More
