Wonderful old building which has been loving upgraded to modern standards, without losing the grandeur of the original building. The staff were very friendly and professional. It is worth noting that this hotel does not have a lift, but there are room on the ground floor. Our room on the second floor was small with a large bathroom, both were... More

18/6/15 for 2 nights. Had a lovely stay. There were weddings on both evenings but we were still made to feel special. Plenty of car parking, lovely choice of breakfast and dinner. Enclosed area at the back of the hotel is lovely to just sit and drink. Thank you to Lottie for ensuring our stay was relaxing

14/06/2015 for 3 nights. Lovely hotel in excellent location short walk from the town centre. All staff very friendly and helpful - special thanks to Lottie, Reception Manager for her kindness and understanding after I'd booked the wrong dates and didn't realise until it was too late. Lottie just put everything right and at the last minute too. The breakfasts... More

we stayed at the hotel last weekend and despite weddings going on we had a lovely stay. The team seemed a little over worked but continued to smile and remained helpful when asking for directions to town and ordering taxis for us in the evening. The hotel itself seems very secluded and isn't obvious to find but when you do... More

The room was really nicely decorated. The bed was very comfortable. Bathroom was nice. The staff were friendly. Breakfast was a continental and served hot food. The service was a little on the slow side. Food wasn't the best, but it wasn't horrible. But overall it was a nice hotel.

We are local to the hotel and decided to go for a Anniversary meal. We were shown to our table and left there for around 10 mins before we were offered a menu, then left again! We weren't asked if we would like to order drinks, I had to wave someone over to get the wine menu and order. Our... More

A persistent non-reviewer spurred on by what I just read. I live no further than a ten minute walk from the hotel but had not visited before. Not for any reason other than not getting around to it. We ate here recently and was bowled over. It was the previously mentioned banner that swayed us in. You often don't feel... More

Following a series of tripadvisor reports on really good eating experiences I am sad to say this critical report is from my own home town. We and our co-diners live locally so we walked to the venue. Thinking back, we were met by two disquieting indicators. The banner at the end of the drive proclaimed, "You can eat here, but... More

Great hotel tucked away off a main road. Has the feel of a luxury hotel but for for a very reasonable cost. Very clean and comfortable room (room 14) although I would have like a slightly larger TV, but you can't have everything. Dinner and breakfast the following morning were excellent and service was very attentive without being overly fussy.... More
