Arrived for sunday lunch with great expectations ......unfortunately the staff were mostly short and sharp and acted as if they were doing us a favour serving us !!! especially the barmaid..... the man serving the meat grunted at us and was wearing a very grubby white /grey tunic , ripped black trousers and dirty canvas shoes . The food was... More

Very friendly and efficient staff. I was looking for something other than a Premier Inn and this more than past the test, at a much better price. Evening menu was extensive and the steak was cooked perfectly. Breakfast was plentiful and nicely done. Room was in the loft conversion so no great views but very pleasant all the same.

We went for Sunday lunch after good reviews on here. I'll get straight to the point, it was absolutely awful. We were shown into the bar area first to get drinks, there were dirty (literally) men at the bar, staring at my daughter in her pushchair and trying to talk to her. I couldn't get away quick enough, it was... More

A nice old style hotel in the centre of Dereham. My double room was large and comfortable, clean and tidy. Though I did not have breakfast I was asked by the great staff if I wanted it each day. The bar was clean and tidy with a selection of real ales. Sky and by sports available in the bar. Will... More

Having read the previous reviews I had doubts regarding a full restaurant. But we had a Good Value £20.00 per head meal. Fish pate pleasant , nice fish pie, sticky toffee pudding desert, All our group ate their assorted platters clean. Good selection of wines and beers, service very good as the place was heaving, live band and a good... More

Went for a Sunday carvery, £10 for two courses, seemed very reasonable. Choice of 3 meats, two of us had turkey and one of us had beef, couldn't fault it - but the rest of the food was shockingly poor. Inedible Aunt Bessie's Yorkshire pudding and raw roast pototoes and parsnips. Rock hard slice of stuffing; very minimal selection for... More

My very senior father in law regularly has lunch at this pub, and is always made to feel very welcome, and he enjoys his food greatly. My wife and I occasionally eat there with him and the menu at lunch time is very good, and even offers OAP specials, if required. This is a very old building and is perhaps... More

I went to Dereham to visit relations and they had booked a table at this place. It wasn't great it was a Sunday so they were only serving Carvery (no other choice) after being shown to our table I headed to the bar to get the drinks and I was told that I had to pay for the meal, that... More

We went for lunch on Sunday, and had a lovely carvery. We sat outside in the garden, and it was very peaceful. We had a 2 course meal, which was a nice roast (chicken, beef & pork) with all the trimmings, and a nice gravy. Also they had a variety of desserts and a lovely choice of ales. We spent... More

Stayed there last Saturday night (30.08.14). Allocated to room 11 by a friendly lady behind the bar. The steps up to the 1st floor were very steep & I would certainly advise elderly not to think about booking to stay here. Our room was like a sauna with the radiator & towel heater on full blast. The window open half... More
