This was a pleasant surprise, while it is an old Inn downstairs, upstairs there is a modern restaurant and outside patio area with great views over the river. Our room was very nice, well decorated with a river view, which was worth the extra money. The food in the restaurant was excellent. The only down side was that the hotel... More

We popped into the old ferry inn near fowey last week and had what i can safely say was a lovely time, the hotel is located on the river fowey and plays host to some stunning views. we were greeted by the barman who seemed quite stressed out but having said that was quite helpful and attended well to us.... I booked this hotel because it had lovely views, even though the weather was was rainy the day we stayed the views we're still good. The staff were friendly and welcoming . We had a evening meal there and breakfast, the food was good, I especially enjoyed my seafood chowder. Everything about our stay was good even the short walk... More

Stayed here with my wife and children (aged 7&2) after looking at the reviews on Trip Advisor and would thoroughly recommend it. We stayed in room 1 which has stunning views over the Fowey estuary and is easily big enough for 4 people. The beds were comfy and the room was nicely appointed with everything you would expect. We had... More

I've been going to the Old Ferry Inn in Bodinnick for 30 odd years. I'm really glad the new management hasn't changed the quirky decor but the menu is now pretty expensive for the same food. You used to be able to get a bar menu for much more reasonable prices but that seems to have gone. So same product,... More

Went to 'The Old Ferry Inn' yesterday, on a day trip to Fowey, for lunch. There were four of us, and what a lovely time we had! Not only were the meals great (my sister-in-law had the Bream, and said it was the best meal she'd had in ages) but the young lad who served us was so sweet and... More

We stayed here for 2 nights, at first we were a bit concerned when we realised we were on the "wrong side" of the river but we needn't have worried about it. We didn't spend much time in the place but we did have dinner in the restaurant one evening which has views over the river - the food was... More

I would not recommend this restaurant as it has no customer service and they do not cook what you order! During a six mile coastal walk my family and I were looking forward to relaxing and enjoying a meal here but we were very disappointed. A bell on the bar counter invited you to ring for service but when we... More

We stayed here for 3 nights and would definitely go back. The food and real ale were excellent and the landlord was very helpful especially when finding a parking place which can be a bit of a challenge. A really great location as the ferry to Fowey is virtually continuous and from the dining room and terraces you get the... More

One night at The Old Ferry Inn isn't enough........ An adventure getting there and an amazing reaction once you get there! We had a super meal on Sunday night, enjoyed the amazing view from the dining room and ended our evening listening to the locals laugh :) Such a relaxed place to stay, thank you everyone

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Situated on the banks of the Fowey River Estuary in the picturesque village of Bodinnick, The Old Ferry is a quintessential Cornish Inn that has been providing accommodation and refreshment for over 400 years. We overlook the Bodinnick to Fowey ferry which can trace its roots back to the 13th Century, and 'Ferryside' the former family home of Daphne du Maurier. The Inn with its relaxed and warm welcome has many traditional features including a wood burner and stone slate floor, and is full of old photographs, nautical bric-a-brac and memorabilia. The perfect place to while away time during the winter months. Our panoramic restaurant gives fantastic river views towards the town of Fowey and the village of Polruan. There are also south facing outside terraces which also have splendid estuary views, and capture the sun all day, a perfect retreat for a summers day. ... more   less
