We'd eaten at the Old Ferry Inn a few years back whilst staying locally and had had a great time. So having decided on a weekend in Cornwall we thought we give the Old Ferry Inn's accommodation a try. In short we weren't disappointed. The staff were friendly, courteous and helpful. The room had a fantastic view from both windows,... More

After a horrendous trip up being towed 8 and a half hours by the AA my family and I arrived 10 minutes late for our table. We had called ahead to extend our booking and to make the staff aware of our issue. Upon arrival it was made clear by the bar staff that we were 'very' late and it... More

We have just had a lovely 3 day break at the Old Ferry Inn, lovely place great food and peace and quiet. Handy Ferry across to Fowey on the doorstep day service only but we new that by simple research before we came. If you want simple life and access to a great local walk (Hall Walk) on doorstep.

They have the best location (terrace) for a great view of Fowey Harbour. But it all ends there. The hotel is old and not comfortable, small overpriced rooms, no reception desk, the staff is not friendly, the room doesn't get properly cleaned and if you decide to stay there, bear in mind that you won't have any ferry link with... This is one of those historic inns in a great location - always worth making the trip from Fowey for, especially after looping around through Polruan and getting there via the Hall Walk. I do miss the days when Royce ran the place, the bar having a bit more history and atmophere then, and the food was nice, though not... More

We stayed on Friday 13th and Saturday 14th June and were blessed with good weather, which combined with their excellent food and good beer made it a great stay. We had a garden view, rather than a river / estuary view room at the front but we booked late and there was just the one room left. It mattered not... More

Value for money hotel. Nice rooms, well maintained, lovely staff with a special landlord/host - Pascal, a friendly/teasing FRENCHMAN! (I know we deserved some of the footie stuff!) Breakfasts are cooked to order and come fresh and hot. Bar snacks and evening meals are delicious and again freshly cooked. AND THE BEERS GOOD TOO! I highly recommend this Inn. I... More

Stayed at a campsite up the hill (also very good) and used the Old Ferry Inn for drinks and snacks. Charming place run by a Frenchman (Pascal) who is an amusing and charming host. Three real ales (all Sharps on our visits) all decent and a varied menu which plenty of people chose from. Lovely spot just up from the... More

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Situated on the banks of the Fowey River Estuary in the picturesque village of Bodinnick, The Old Ferry is a quintessential Cornish Inn that has been providing accommodation and refreshment for over 400 years. We overlook the Bodinnick to Fowey ferry which can trace its roots back to the 13th Century, and 'Ferryside' the former family home of Daphne du Maurier. The Inn with its relaxed and warm welcome has many traditional features including a wood burner and stone slate floor, and is full of old photographs, nautical bric-a-brac and memorabilia. The perfect place to while away time during the winter months. Our panoramic restaurant gives fantastic river views towards the town of Fowey and the village of Polruan. There are also south facing outside terraces which also have splendid estuary views, and capture the sun all day, a perfect retreat for a summers day. ... more   less
