A night at The Ship in is enough. Young drinkers, dust and cobwebs everywhere, cold rooms, poor service. Such a pity when the location is amazing. Probably wouldn't go back, which is so disappointing.

As with all reviews one's comments depend on your expectations and experiences. We called in at The Ship Inn for a light lunch as it is dog friendly & there didn't seem to be much dog friendly choice. The food was fine & fair value but the tables hadn't been properly cleaned & everywhere was a bit grubby. It was... More

We arranged to meet some friends here & enjoyed our evening. They had fish pie which they enjoyed, we stuck to drinks which were good -St. Austell Ales. Friendly service in characterful old pub, nice & quiet, open fire. Returning the following evening anticipating more of the same & also planning to eat there we were surprised to find the... More

Friends & I stayed two mid-week nights & this Inn was ideal. No frills, but we didn't want any! The small double room would easily have been improved by a chair and towel rail but was clean and comfortable. Sharing a bathroom was fine especially as there are not many rooms and never far to walk. We only B&B-ed there... More

Booked a 2 night stay for our anniversary. Stayed in the Oak room with it's original oak panelling including a carving of Queen Elizabeth I above the mantel. Shared bathroom, which is pretty standard for rooms above a pub, but nothing else was standard! The bed was super soft, the room was gorgeous, breakfast was cooked to perfection and everyone... Great pub, accommodation very basic, but that's reflected in the price- it's not expensive. If you're looking for a pub with atmosphere that makes you feel welcome, this ones for you!Food was okay, nothing special but wholesome and we all enjoyed our meals. You need to accept that the Ship is a public house with accommodation and not a hotel... More

We stayed last night in the Ship Inn, had a lovely big room furnished like a pirate ship. It was creeky and dated, which we loved. It had 2 bathrooms too. The bed was really springy, but again it was really Charming. We had drinks in there last night, could have done with music bit good atmosphere. The breakfast was... More

We have recently stayed at the Ship Inn and I can't praise it enough. The food was out of this world. I ate lobster Thermidor , my wife ate pork belly and king scallops and my two children had mini fish and chips. The staff were attentive during our stay and the rooms were lovely .When I asked my daughter... More
