Budget hotel. Budget priced. Great location. For all it's bad reviews it's really not that bad! The staff are great and there's an onsite handyman to fix anything that's broken. This is really a stag and hen do hotel or for those just needing a bed for the night and it caters for these persons exactly. It's not fancy but... More

Just returned from this hotel, appearance shabby but clean - but could not believe our eyes at breakfast when I went to get a slice of bread out of the container, the underside was covered in black MOULD!! Put it on the table beside my plate, the waitress removed it with the breakfast plates. No apology, nothing - unbelievable. Hotel... More

Myself and my brother paid £84 for one nights stay at this hotel on the 3rd May 2014. Immediately upon arrival, we realised we had made a terrible, terrible decision. The hotel looked dated, the sign was falling off, the paint on the walls was peeling, and I felt more like I was entering a prison, than a hotel. The... More

The hotel is located in a good location, it is surrounded by takeaways and restaurants the city centre isn't far either. The reason I've stated that is because one would rather stay out then stay in the room. Whilst the room is clean it does need an update to a bit modern and contemporary. Once all that's done this has... More

… as the large notice outside the breakfast room warns… The Gateshead Swallow is somewhat of a throwback – Corby Trouser Press and ironing board in each bedroom, old-style massive colour TV taking up a third of available space on the ‘desk’ area, accompanied by a generally shabby atmosphere, presumably because it’s in ‘Administrative Receivership’ (according to the slightly worrying... Very basic in need of a makeover but it was cheap, cheerful and clean. Breakfast was fine with a small selection. Fresh fruit would have been nice. We got a free dinner on the first night which was very average. Lifts needed fixed, only one was working but was still a bit dodgy. The employees were nice and its in... More
