We were meeting friends who had travelled North and were looking for somewhere to meet as a group of 8. Our last experience (in a different restaurant) was very disappointing. Sometimes the quality varies considerably when changing from a meal for 2 to a meal for 8. Anyway there were absolutely no problems at all. We booked ahead, our table... More

Stayed at the hotel for 2 nights (Friday & Saturday), as we had a party in Chester Le Street. As soon as we arrived, I was more than impressed. The room was spacious, clean, modern and comfortable, as well as having free Wifi & Freeview TV on the wall. The bathroom was also very roomy and modern, enough space for... More

Stayed for 3 nights, the room was clean and beds were comfy. Had breakfast each day, the choice was excellent as was the service. Had an evening meal on 1 night the quantity of food was enormous much better value for money than a restaurant in Gateshead.

Stayed here for a Saturday night as a group of three couples attending a function nearby. Check in was very quick & easy (although when we enquired about check out the following day we were told by the girl on reception that check out was 2.30pm, the information in the room said it was 11.00am). We ate in the bar... More

Looked for a Hotel within travelling distance of Durham/Newcastle and this was perfect for what we needed. Greeted by friendly staff on arrival, everything was explained to us and was more than happy with the room, we had a twin room because there were no doubles left and it was spotless and the bathroom quite large. The food in the... More

Ate here twice now from the lunch menu and food is excellent. Compliments to the chef. Tried different meals both times we've been, portions are huge for a light menu and well worth the money. Can't wait to try the evening menu. Much improved since the last owners had it 10years ago. Well recommended if you like good food at... More

Stayed here for one night on way to Scotland. Rooms were comfortable and modern. Attached pub has a huge menu with options to suit every taste and nice old pub ambience. Portions are generous and food is very good. The sticky toffee pudding was particularly good and rated best we had during our vacation by my teenagers (and they tried... More
