I read some of the reviews on here before we went and thought 'oh dear' We were pleasantly surprised. The hall itself was beautiful. A former family home then a girls private school. My room was overlooking the pretty front lawn with a view of the bay to the side. The room was spotless, lovely modern en suite and white towels... More

We were on a coach from Petersfield, which ment we were taken out every day in the coach our stay there was most enjoyable, all the members of staff were very helpful. this was a pleasant surpise for us, we booked as a 2 night stopover on the way further up the Lake District. Staff are friendly and helpful, and the breakfast was a very good buffet selection. Can't say first hand about the dinner because it was fully booked, but highly recommended to us by other guests. (The local pub, Pheonix,... More

Thought long and hard before posting this. The grounds are beautiful, the swimming pool looks lovely but we didn't use it. The staff are friendly and the location is good for travelling into the Lake District. I booked Abbot Hall Hotel in haste and repented at leisure. In general I'm never too bothered about the room as I have little... More

We visited this hotel quite by accident during a cycle to Kents Bank and stopped in for coffee ... Lovely setting and gardens. The staff could not have been more polite or obliging . Would love to stay next time.

I stayed here with my young daughter ( age 11 ) from 10/13th July. We stayed in room 58 over in annexe part of Hotel. Yes, the room was not en-suite and we had to use toilet/shower facilities further along the corridor but it was not a problem. These facilities although dated, were very clean. The Hotel stands in beautiful... More

My Sister booked this hotel to stay over for 2 nights as we were attending a friends wedding. Be aware there is a part of the hotel that is not pictured or mentioned on their website or the booking sites that they use... it looks nothing like their pictures or descriptions. We booked a standard twin room not realising it... More

Had lunch here and we were very impressed with the both the service and the quality of the food. The waiter was so helpful and even put the half of the ciabatta that i could not manage onto a paper plate along with a plastic knife and fork and napkin - all nicely wrapped in cling film. The toilets have... More

Be aware that this place is run by the Christian Guild, however despite the obvious literature everywhere and odd entertainment it wasn't forced down our throats. The 1st receptionist was very helpful in directing us to some local eating places. The room was clean and the bed was comfortable. Now for the bad points! We arrived on a hot day... More
