I stayed here with two others in 2012. I had a lovely spacious room with a gorgeous view. The room was clean, comfortable and had everything I needed. The decor is slightly old fashioned, but it was all in good condition I found. The hotel is in a beautiful spot, and the woods around are lovely for a walk, especially... More

We stayed for four nights at the beginning of June on the special mid-week deal which we felt was really good value for money. We were very lucky and blessed with lovely weather, which helps! The hotel needed money spending on it, like so many in the current economic climate, which we accepted, as we have stayed at other Strathmore... More

We had a pleasant stay at the Cumbria Grand. On first appearance the hotel does look a little tired in places with regards to decor, walls, carpets, doors and lifts etc. it's an old building and does shows its age. We really spent little time in the hotel as we were at at wedding at the Netherwood which is 'next... More

Wonderful building in an amazing setting but sadly lacking power at the helm to turn this hotel into a jewel in the crown. We stopped for high tea after a day at Windermere with a party of 26.Due to a further 3 coaches being booked in for a meal the service was cramped and rushed. One of the choices was fish and... Visited Cumbria Grand for a long weekend with friends. Got a good deal, £140 for three nights, B&B plus evening meal and free trip on the Lake Windermere boat. Room was spacious, clean and well laid out. Staff were all friendly and helpful, breakfast was good in the morning, evening meal was basic but for the price you could not... More

First the good side. The staff are excellent and work hard to make your stay enjoyable however, the downside. The carvery meal needs to be avoided, go for the a la cart menu. The former is poor value whereas the later is very good but at an extra cost. It's worth it trust me. When one gets a suite at a... More

Thank you for leaving a review on your recent stay.I am sorry that you felt the stay was spoilt by a few things. The carvery dinner is standard for the large numbers of diners that our restaurant caters for on an everyday basis and our Head Chef and his team use local ingredients to produce homely, tasty meals which many of... This beautiful building with magnificent veiws overlooking Morecambe Bay gives the first impressiont that you are in for a treat. How disappointed can you be. Check-in was good. The passage/corridor to the lift has stained capet. 2nd floor corridor was exactly the same with dreadful paintwork and a decidedly tatty approach to the rooms. It had a very stale small about... Stayed here recently for two nights and had a very nice trip to Grange over Sands. The hotel itself is quite run down and in need of a refresh but our room was very clean and had everything we needed. Breakfast wasn't the best we've ever had, but there was plenty of choice of hot and cold food at the... More

Booked a night away, A major plus is this hotel is dog friendly and there are plenty of grounds to stretch their legs after a drive ! All dealings with the staff at the hotel were good. We were served by a particularly nice young lady on the Saturday evening in the bar - friendly and attentive service. Reception staff... More

Having read some of the reviews on this site was casually quite worried about what this hotel was going to be like (it was booked by the company we were travelling with). We were met by the assistant.manager who gave a bit of info then the porter took our luggage up to the room. The paint work outside does need... More
