Staff were friendly enough but I honestly don't know what could be done to improve this sad, dingy, rambling barn of a hotel short of demolition. It's a depressing place with faded, marked, uninteresting decor and the gloomiest interior you could imagine. I kept thinking I should put the lights on in my room and then realising they were already... More

I stayed here last August for a night while visiting Lake District. The hotel is very nice, the name grand matches the hotel lobby and restaurant. The room where I stayed was great with a little balcony. It was really a good experience, and the food was good too. All in all, a good place to stay in a little... More

Have just spent 3 glorious nights , the service was 1st class esp from John and Kristina on the bar (who also took and delivered our bar meals), served our drinks and to Valerie on reception, a big thanks you to you all ,and to all the people behind the scenes. The view from room 309 was breath taking ,... More

Stayed for a long weekend with a group, food selection was very good, so was cleanliness, views and staff friendliness. Only gripe was the creaking floors, but for what we paid, it was a small sacrifice.

Just returned from a Dancing Holiday, the hotel is clean we updated to a bay view room, everything in room you could possibly need. Restaurant food was good and well presented and the staff were always polite and attentive, reception glad to help with anything (except the guy I called Mr Grumpy). The dancing was good every evening with excellent... More

Well, this hotel is an old grand hotel. Perhaps needs a little updating in places and when you enter you do get a sense and smell of an old hotel. My partner and I arrived around 8pm on Sunday evening. We don't normally eat at the hotel we stay in but after a long drive decided we would. We both... More

It's old, a little worn, a bit like your favourite slippers. If it's comfort you want you are in the right place. I can,t give enough praise. Excellent carvery, delicious a la carte, scrumptious breakfasts. Every member of staff, including those working on refurbishment, were polite and efficient. As for the views over the bay, wonderful. My family were amazed,... More

Stayed here over the weekend, we found the hotel was very clean, our family room was spotless not a speck of dust, and the bathroom was gleaming, all the fixtures were again spotless. We only had breakfast so can't comment on the evening meals, breakfast was very good, hot and plentiful, waiters were very good also. The hotel is a... More
