Well after booking this night away I was very excited,I googled images and thought I was getting a lovely night away in a lovely hotel..... I was so wrong! I pulled up the drive in my car to be greeted by a very tired, old, stressed building (not like the lovely pictures that I seen online) instantly disappointed!!! Found a parking space... More

Just returned from a February Winter offer at this beautiful hotel. I cannot understand the earlier negative review. We had room 102, a huge family room for the two of us. It was very warm with a big bathroom and was very quiet. The carvery dinner was excellent with usually four choices, beautifully prepared and plenty available. The staff were... More

Upon arrival at hotel, ( which has commanding position overlooking Morcombe bay) it is like stepping back 40 years or so as the entrance foyer, check in and corridors are all wood panelling tired fixtures and 'seen better days' carpets and corridor papering. However room (225) was spacious warm and clean with lovely views. Bed mattress was rather worn and... More

My Husband and I have just returned from a mini break at this lovely hotel. I am very surprised it is only rated as a 3 star as I do feel it should be higher. The venue is undergoing some refurbishment however this did not disrupt our stay. The staff are very welcoming and friendly with fabulous meals to match.... More

Nice old hotel but expensive for a February break and BEWARE this is a hotel where builders are in. Should have warned us when we booked. Off putting strong smells of paint in corridors. Banging from workmen starts before breakfast - not between 9 and 5 as stated. Stairs & corridors dirty from decorators. Bedrooms warm and clean but lounge... More

Thank you for your most direct review and am really disappointed that you did not like every single aspect of your stay with us.Your opinion is valued and I will investigate all your comments as they are in stark contrast to all the reviews around from recent visitors. Regarding the refurbishment "mess" our rooms are being done to such a... More

My husband and I stayed for two nights early February. Room was lovely, comfortable, warm and clean with a wonderful sea view. Beautiful old hotel, undergoing some renovation (which we knew about before we arrived) but it did not interfere with our stay. The grounds are extensive and looked to be very well kept. Good choice for breakfast, both hot... More

Advertised as a 3 star hotel but I felt was lacking in places. The hotel is currently undergoing renovation and personally I felt this should have been pointed out on booking - not on a sign on your way to your room. The food was a mix - mostly of 2 star rating for me. Some of the breakfast on... More

Ihave just returned from staying at this very Grand Hotel. Really lovely Hotel and staff. Set in a peaceful and tranquil setting was just what I needed for a couple of days, wish I had stayed for longer if time had permitted. I will definately return. From the settings, the food and the lovely staff especially in the kitchen. I... More

Although the Cumbria Grand Hotel looks like a former ‘Big House’, it was actually built as a hotel in 1880 by the Furness Railway company. Originally called the Hazlewood Hydro, it’s managed to retain most of its Victorian grandeur. But, best of all are the views, looking out over the Kent Estuary. You only need walk down the driveway and... More

This is my first time at the hotel, It is beautiful and the grounds are just gorgeous On entering and going to reception I was not given a key even though I was in a twin room (maybe they think that people who share a room will be together the whole of the time and don’t need a key each..??)... Thank you for leaving such direct feedback on the hotel. As you know the Murder Mystery theme at the weekend means that dining is delayed and each course is served dependant on the organisers of the event. It eventually gets to the stage where proceedings are behind and it is necessary to clear in the manner you describe otherwise dining... More
