My wife and I were combining business and pleasure and chose this inn as our halfway stop for the night as we drove north. Pulling into the village was like entering a different world. So quiet and peaceful. We sat in the pub for a couple of drinks before dinner, and then we're treated to a fantastic dinner. The owners... More

Stayed overnight and it was an absolute joy. Linda and Henry were very friendly, and although I am gluten free this was no problem for this fabulous chef who cooked me something to suit - delicious ! Had breakfast outside in the sunshine, cooked to order (with gluten free bread!) and accommodation was clean - comfortable - and quiet -... More

We found this fantastic place when we stayed at Stoke Rochford Hall, not wanting to eat in the hotel I used google to find some local pubs and this was the first one in the list. We arrived and as we walked in it said "No Children Under 10" bliss we are off to a good start!, then we had... More

Just returned from our first two night stay, at the Cross Swords Inn. We could not fault one thing throughout our stay. Harold and Linda are very warm and welcoming, nothing is to much trouble to make your stay complete. Harold is a first class Chef, and the food offered is varied and cooked to perfection. Our room was very... More

No wonder this place has won an award for 2014 already, best village pub out of 75 in the local area! We had two lovely starters, mine was their signatory dish of Black pudding and mustard with apple marmalade and my wife's was their prawns in garlic butter. Mains was rack of lamb, perfectly cooked to how I likes it... More

My wife & I have just returned from a very pleasant few days at this Pub with Rooms. Not only was the weather very kind to us but so were Harold & Linda who own this hostelry. The menu was more than adequate for our three day stay giving a good selection on the printed menu as well as being... More

We stayed here for one night whilst in the area to celebrate my husband's birthday. Accommodation was very clean and comfortable, great attention to detail, food in the restaurant was fresh and beautifully cooked, breakfast wonderful. All our needs were catered for by the very friendly owner Harold. Highly recommended.

Just spent the weekend here, with friends, and made to feel so welcome. We were visiting Burghley horse trials, which was only a short drive away. The accommodation is compact, very clean and comfortable, with a great bathroom. Our evening meals and breakfasts were superb. Harold has obviously spent time sourcing his food, and the gammon steak that my husband... More

Booked for one night whilst sightseeing in the area with a friend. The pretty village took no finding - few minutes from the A1 but seemed like a million miles away. On arrival we were given a lovely warm welcome and shown to the Newton cottage which was situated in the car park - just a hop, skip and jump... More

We had been to the Rutland Bird fair on the Saturday booked this accomodation for one night, it was truly beautiful set in a small very pretty village. Tastefully done the buildings next to the pub where we spent an amazing nights sleep in huge bed that was so comforable (better than our bed at home). Bathroom so clean everything... More
