Stumbled across the pub and went in for lunch. Have not had ingredients as fresh as this in a long time. Everything that came to our table, was home made and prepared and cooked straight from the kitchen. The hosts were welcoming, warm and attentive without been overwhelming. Food can't fault it, service can't fault it - if you go... More

A group of 6 of us came to eat at the Cross Swords on the final night of our business trip. We wish we had discovered it on our first night rather than our last. The landlord and landlady were friendly and welcoming and could not do enough for us as customers. The food, wine and Ale (so I'm told)... More

Stayed here again recently. Harold and Linda the hosts are great and the food is superb. The rooms are very clean and comfortable and we will be heading back in the near future. If you give it a try we are sure you will not be disappointed.

Provided a lovely place to stay to meet some friends. Comfortable rooms and good food. Would certainly stay again if looking for somewhere halfway between us. Very friendly and helpful. Turning across the A1 was a bit daunting but Harold told us how to avoid that. Village very quiet but quite charming.

Thank you for your great review, I hoped you liked the area. As I said, in the spring & summer, there is quite a bit more to see & do! The local Shakespeare theatre, and stately homes etc. Kind regards Harold & Linda More

Spent 2 evenings in the bar and two nights followed by breakfast. Linda the land lady gives such a warm welcome and her attention to detail is meticulous. The food was freshly cooked and tasted superb, Harold certainly knows how to cook and also good at checking that everything is ok. If you are looking for somewhere to eat or... More

How on earth can you charge £5.95 for a bowl of soup that a baby would appreciate in a liquidiser. I am sorry but this is rediculas. The place was slow to get a drink and the atmosphere was lacking. Come on please give value for money. I really did feel ripped off.

Dear Madam, thank you for your review , Our soups are all home-made, with double cream fresh stock, and choice vegetables, and on the evening in question, you were quite ecstatic about the soup, and you ate it with relish, complimenting me on how good the soup was????? And you ate it all. HOW CAN "DING-DONG Chef this is so... More

Had the odd niggle (see below) but the myriad of fabulous stuff so completely outweighed the niggle stuff that I couldn't give it anything other than 5*. Great stuff; food, service, room, shower, cleanliness, breakfast Niggle; size of TV, TV reception, slightly soft bed The rooms are slightly separate from the pub so don't suffer from noise problems. Not cavernous... More

As usual I checked rating on trip advisor to find suitable accomodation and was in total agreement with the reviews I had read on this inn.We were welcomed by both Linda and Harold Wood who own the Inn... We passed the Cross Swords on way out to Rutland Water from Stoke Rochford and stopped before opening time to have a quick look we were met by a very helpful landlady Linda, who showed us the menu and invited us to come and dine that evening which the six of us did, it was a delightful evening with Linda...
