We popped in for a drink after a day at Belton Hall. Wanted somewhere to eat but they had a wedding reception starting.Beautiful country pub with lovely fireplace and a dog sitting at the bar. Perfect setting will definitely go back to eat there soon.

I have visited the Chequers Inn on many occasions and have never been disappointed. The food is excellent, especially the burgers, and I love a good burger. Staff are friendly and helpful and there's never a drama if you are unfortunate enough to have to cancel at the last minute which I've have had to do on 2 occasions. A... More

My wife & 2 small children stayed here for a weekend in January. The family room is spacious and really comfortable. There were bunk beds for the children, but plenty of space to put the top bed on the ground to make twin beds - which we did as our children are 2 & 4. The Inn also provided a... More

Great little place for a nice weekend away. We went on the winter break deal which is great value, the food was of a high standard and the room was tastefull and clean. The inn is old and the interior with the log fires set a cosy relaxing ambience. I can only think of one fault, which was minor, and that... More

We have been several times on Boxing Day for lunch and have enjoyed the meal, the service and the general ambience, but something went terribly wrong this time. We were seated on time, but the table was not laid up. We waited and waited, but then had to ask for menus, wine glasses and cutlery that were missing. Other tables... More

We have been the chequers a number of times, always the food and service is second to none, so we decided to book a table on christmas eve. We arrive and are told that we have to wait twenty minutes for our table, which we didn't complain about as it was christmas eve. Thirty five minutes later we are seated... More

Ate here with my husband and another couple. When we arrived we got told we would have to wait to order so they could do our meal at the same time as a large party. After waiting over an hour we got our food which we were not very impressed to say the least. With our meal we were told... More

This is an ideal winter destination for an overnight stay - a cosy red brick cottage in the Belvoir valley. It's almost perfect for a rainy, cold, mid - November night. Family room was spacious and comfortable, but no shower.Very good value at £70. Dinner actually cost more than the room, but was worth it too. Enjoyed some memorable pigeon... More

We have just returned from a nights stay in the Chequers. We stayed in room 3 in the refurbished outhouse. We were so impressed by how clean, warm and comfortable it was. The bathroom was a long narrow room, spotlessly clean and warm with white fluffy towels. The evening meal was simply delicious, and the staff excellent. Breakfast was yummy... More

Lovely food in a cosy bar with Belvoir Castle as a backdrop. Both enjoyed our meals, slight disappointment for anyone hoping the belly pork would be unctuous, it was not. Everything else looked lovely. However, cherry chocolate trifle made up for this. Good wine list and well kept beer. We stayed on the £100 DBB winter warmer offer which includes... More
