After seeing the web page advertising christmas (4 night break) my husband and I decided, although expensive (£1300 approx) we decided since we were retiring this would be a great start to our retirement. The menu's incredible just perfect - until we arrived - no fires were lit until late in the evening - leaving us all in our rooms... more

At Muckrach we pride ourselves on our service and on the relaxing comfort that envelops the guest from arrival to departure. Rarely, a guest will be dissatisfied with their stay and we take such issues very seriously. We will always make every effort to resolve their unhappiness as soon as possible, either during their stay or at check out. All...

We did not stay at the hotel, only dined in restaurant. The atmosphere was fabulous: the surrounding gardens were beautiful and easily enjoyed through the glass walls of the dining room. The wait staff was very attentive. The food was very fresh, but the fish and steak were a little overcooked. more

We had a superb dinner and breakfast- a real stand out in terms of our stay. Our room was a little 'dusty' and perhaps the hotel as a whole would appreciate an interior designer colour scheme make over, (admittedly a very personal opinion) but we we couldn't fault our welcome. And it's in a great location for things to do. more

I don't know who gave this property four stars, but it is definitely time for a review...The breakfast buffet is a joke. It looks like the leftover pickings after an army has moved through, even first thing in the morning. The decor is complety random (Andy Picheta's directorial awards, china plates, ultra modern collage, off-the-rack 'fine art' , vintage luggage,... more

Muckrach is designated by the Scottish Tourist Board as a three star country house hotel with an overall score of 78% The breakfast service is usually cooked to order from fresh, local ingredients each morning. A breakfast buffet is used only at the request of corporate or other clients taking the entire hotel. There has not been a buffet for...

My husband and I escaped without our children for a weekend in November last year. We found Muckrach (and a great deal on the rate) through the laterooms website. The driveway is a bit potholed and bumpy, but this only added to the rustic charm of the approach to this beautiful Victorian hunting lodge. The owners are very hands-on managers,... more

We had high hopes as I entered Grantown-on-Spey with my partner. The old town looked lovely and we were expecting a hotel to match. We were not dissapointed. As we came up the drive we were amazed at how lovely it all looked. So much land, so many wonderful trees and flowers. Two friendly looking highland cows in the front... more

Stayed at the Lodge for the wedding of a family member who lives nearby in Grantown-on-Spey. Our immediate family took over the entire hotel. By the luck of the draw my daughter and I were assigned to the Muckrach Suite - a very large room with a sitting area. There was always water, fruit and sometimes cookies in our room.... more

After a tiring drive up the A9, we pulled into Muckrach and were struck by how lovely it looks sitting up above the road. One of the staff came out and greeted us warmly, and took our bags in for us. This excellent level of service set the tone for our two day stay. The staff and owners couldn't do... more

A previous reviewer stated this was a lovely warm hotel how wrong they were. We have just returned from a 2 night stay in November and the bedrooms were freezing. I pointed this out to the owner and his response was that there was problems with the heating - no apology and he appeared to be completely disinterested in our... more
