Charming welcoming staff. Comfortable room. The high spot was the restaurant food. We were there for 2 nights, the first night included a wonderfully cooked sirloin steak with PERFECT chips. The next night my wife (who is a fish fanatic of 50 years standing) took the monk fish which she said is the best monk fish she has ever tasted.

Recommended by our B&B hostess, Val, and she couldn't have been any more accurate! Both the starters, mains, desserts, and drinks were top notch, and served with character also! Requested a single malt to be paired to our dessert, and they matched it quite well. And to top it all off - live bagpipes outside to serenade those dining that... More

A great small hotel with great Scottish feel. From 'Spud' the piper who plays the pipes in the grounds around the hotel, to the excellent food - this is a gem! The cocktail bar has a fair selection of whiskeys, BUT also a few classic Scottish Gins, (including one oaked!!).

As walk in guests we were welcomed and catered for exceptionally well. Our room was well appointed on the ground floor facing the street, to our delight we had a piper play outside our window, otherwise quiet enough. All of the staff we encountered were charming and helpful. The restaurant fare was excellent , Wifi in public areas .Would certainly... More

Nice hotel for a couples getaway, cracking evening meal, reasonably priced and an excellent whisky selection. Terrible breakfast service waited 15 minutes before the order was taken, for which I had to chase waitress down and after all that it was rubbish

Camping in Grantown on Spey, we decided to treat ourselves to Sunday lunch at the Garth Hotel. Our choice from the fairly short menu was excellent: buttery mackerel pate, a generous portion of well-cooked roast beef with Yorkshire pudding, roast potatoes and nice crisp vegetables followed by Scottish cheeses served at just the right temperature. The staff were very pleasant... More

The Garth is a compact hotel and the bar can get crowded at times. Staff welcoming, courteous and helpful. Food is excellent although the allowance of £22.50 on a half board deal is less than generous given the menu prices. The rooms in the new rear extension are the best.

Nice folk, good breakfast. That's where the good points end. Poor décor in rooms (ceiling paper peeling) and bathroom could do with a good blitz with cleaning solution (bath had black stains around the tiles). Pricey (over £100 per room per night) not worth the money.

We were told by a local that the Garth Hotel did an "early bird" dinner between 5:30 and 6:30, at 25% off and, though we were staying in another hotel, as we had nothing else planned for that evening of our stay in Grantown we made a reservation. It was an excellent choice! We were seated quickly, presented with our... More

Can't help but love a hotel that has an impressive bagpiper in full regalia playing when we arrived. Very comfortable rooms and nicely appointed common areas, very good food. Staff was very helpful, friendly, and certainly added to the welcoming ambiance of this place. Would have been 5 stars if it weren't for the unusually deep bathtub that some of... More
