My fiance and I stayed at the Southern for a weekend get away, we stayed in the four poster room which was very nicely decorated with a modern yet cosy feel. I would say the only downside to this room was the squeaking bed, which kept we awake for most of the night. By the time the morning came I... more

We would like to thank these guests for pointing out the problem with the four poster bed. Immediately they left my husband and I stripped the bed and put additional wooden support to the bed base which has eliminated the squeak. This bedroom although newly decorated and the four poster installed is very popular and these guests were the first...

Have`nt been to Yarmouth for several years and has had a face lift. The hotel itself is 3 minutes walk from the front but in a quiet location. Breakfast was quick and very tasty. En suite room with great view and very comfy bed. more

The hotel sign states 'car park at rear' however this is not the case. You have to leave your car in what I can only describe as an enlarged shark cage which is down a narrow cobbled alley way, alright if you own a smart car or a mini otherwise you cannot manouvere your car without risk of scrapping it... more

The car park is down a very narrow street away from the hotel, more of an alley. Here we met a most unpleasant man who had parked his car and the alley was so narrow we could not get past. We felt the car was unsafe and elected to park it on the street. We had room 15 and this... more

We (family of three) enjoyed our stay at the Southern; the room was fine, especially the free wireless connection and the ample breakfast. Sally is the best thing about the hotel: ask her a question and she'll give you an honest answer. "Should we visit Ipswich?" "No." Just like that. In the downstairs lounge area, guests gather in the evening... more

The rooms and bathrooms are not the largest but are very clean and tidy. The dining room is comfortable, and the service is good. The breakfast is also good and set us up for the day.
