I can safely say that I will never stay in this hotel again. The whole place is in much need of an overhall. Every part of this hotel is well past it's sell by date. Although most hotels in Great Yarmouth are in need of a lot of TLC, this one exceeds them all. However, the staff of the Star... more

Rates as the worst hotel I have ever stayed at. It is in urgent need of redecoration. Carpets that are a trip hazard, Wallpaper hanging from the ceiling, rips in furniture, shower that only produced cold water all add to a general uncomfortable feel to the premises. Beware of being allocated a room on the first floor. Even with the... more

I can safely say that I would not go back to stay at this hotel. Although the breakfast was good & staff were helpful the rooms are very tatty and left me feeling uneasy about sleeping in the beds, using bathroom etc. I don't think money has been spent here for quite sometime and seems to be in a time... more

Nice front of the hotel, staff are very friendly and efficient. General prices in the hotel very high and over inflated, the rooms are falling apart. Some furniture broken, dirty walls and carpets. Single glazed windows so very loud at night with pubs and traffic surrounding. Not worth the £69 a night on offer, wouldn't pay half if had choice. more

Although the rooms could do with a lick of paint, they were clean and the bathrooms are really nice. The hotel is well situated for going out in the town. We enjoyed our stay and would recommend this hotel. more

Stayed one night, and didn't know what to expect. It has character. The staff were all great - attentive and professional. Breakfast was unusually good for a hotel in this class - service was rapid and food was good quality. Everything was very clean. Towels were softer than in most hotels, not those "hard boiled" ones you so often get... more

I had always wanted to stay in this hotel, but I am afraid it did not live up to expectations. If ever a hotel needed a facelift this is it. The story starts when I booked on the internet. The next evening at 10pm my phone rang and it was the hotel confirming my reservation. Rather late in the evening... more

Room looked nothing like one advertised on website, very small. No TV changer available and as TV was virtually on the ceiling it was very difficult. No trouser press. Window was frosted glass and opened out onto a brick wall, very claustrophobic and airless. Pillows very hard. Asked for white wine in hotel bar and function room, ws not given... more

As an ex resident of Great Yarmouth, The Star always appealed as a Hotel in which to stay if ever I was a visitor. Situated on the main road through the town on Hall Quay, next to the Riverside it presents itself as a place of character, with a Tudor exterior of white plaster and oak beams. My partner and... more
