OK if you have read other reviews then you know all about the no shoes saga. To us this was not a problem and in any case slip-on's are available on request. What's wrong with a pre ordered breakfast if this can be changed as long as you ask in time. Look on the plus side; breakfasts are gargantuan and... More

Had a one night stay whilst down for a family funeral. Impeccably clean home and perfect hosts. Very comfortable room and excellent bed. Lovely breakfast and Linda even provided a jug of warm water to defrost my car windows. A warm welcome and an even Warner farewell. Can't fault it at all.

spent a wonderful weekend at the lodge recently. The bed was comfortable and the room spotless. The proprietors were knowledgeable regards the island and were friendly throughout. The breakfasts were very wholesome, and all guests shared the breakfast table which can make for interesting conversation.

Most reviewers have mentioned the no shoe rule. It really was no big deal and I didn't give it a second thought until I read the other reviews. It was no trouble, kept the place clean and even though a paying customer, it's still someone's home and I feel one must respect the house owners' preferences. We were made very... More

Pleasant couple; clean and tidy; great breakfast; good price. What's more to be said! No shoes policy. Our room was a bit fussy. We are quite minimalistic. No tea/coffee facilities in room. These are minor observations not criticisms!

Advised we would arrive late and when we turned up were greeted by Clive. His initial request was to remove shoes as these were not worn in the house, we were then taken into the kitchen dining room for a cup of tea and to be told of the facilities in the area. Then taken up to our bedroom which... More

My sister and I stayed at Waratah lodge this last weekend. Linda and Clive were fantastic - lovely, welcoming and made us feel incredibly at home. The only thing stopping that extra 5/5 was the fact that it was American cup weekend so a little more pricey than we'd hoped (our own fault for booking on a busy weekend though!).... More

Arrived about 7pm on a Sunday night after visiting family in Portsmouth area. Greeted by Clive who was very friendly and asked if we needed help with any luggage. As others have stated, you are asked if you mind removing your shoes on arrival. Personally I think this is an excellent idea and one we always follow at home anyway.... More

A small carpark on arrival just enough space per room not much fun when you have a large van. Had to ask the owner to move his car. Yeah you've guessed it had to take off my boots as it is a no shoes in the house policy(which is mentioned in every review!) , which is fine. The room itself... More

We stayed here for 2 nights while visiting the National Watersports Festival. We were given a friendly welcome by Clive and helpful advice for finding the excellent cycle route, avoiding the busy road, practically all the way to the event. Yes there are a few basic rules, but there weren't a problem for us as we do the same at... More
