We stayed at April cottage for 2 nights for a wedding and had a fantastic time. Peter and Joanna were great hosts and very accommodating with our 7 month baby! The room was spacious and very comfortable and most importantly the breakfast was absolutely delicious! Lots of fresh fruit and extremely tasty eggs, bacon and sausage. Peter showed us the... More

Stayed three nights at April Cottage. Hosts Joey and Peter were very welcoming and breakfast was substantial. We stayed in the top room which was a good size with substantial arm chairs to relax, and an excellent ensuite shower room. This room is accessible via a spiral staircase and Peter very kindly carried our case up to the room. It... More

Relax, BarBQ or sleep in the newly installed wooden Lapland Lodge or stay in the delightful cottage and wake to a relaxingly beautiful country garden. Be offered breakfast of locally produced fresh fare and fruit. My wife and I have just returned from a 4 night stay at April cottage. Joey and Peter could not have been more welcoming and accommodating. We really felt like we were in a home from home. On the middle day we were provided with a wonderful picnic for our trip to Studland bay which is just a short drive.... More

I have just returned from a lovely trip to April Cottage and highly recommend this bed and breakfast. Joey and Peter are very welcoming and hospitable. The house is a delight and my children hugely enjoyed the extensive garden,. The highlight was an indoor barbecue in the 'Lapland lodge.' A unique experience and a complete hit with my children. Stayed for four days bed and breakfast - great hosts, Joanna and Peter, very comfortable rooms. Plenty of breakfast [full english] accompanied by cereals, juice, joghurts, fruit and toast. Will certainly stay again when down in Dorset. Can recommend to anyone passing through Harmans Cross. Beautiful building in a great setting.

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
The Isle of Purbeck in Dorset has some unusual features, not least that it is not an island at all but a peninsula, but nonetheless it is a unique and special place for residents and visitors. Framed by Poole Harbour and the English Channel it has a curious mix of geographic features, resulting in some dynamic coastal formations and more species of wild flowers than any other comparable area in the country. The famous Purbeck stone hails from here too and is widely used locally, forming a feature of charming traditional Dorset buildings as exemplified perfectly by April Cottage. The Cottage and Lodge are situated in the village of Harman's Cross, halfway between Corfe Castle and Swanage. It is the first cottage on the left when turning into South Instow. Reached from Wareham on the A351 or by ferry from Sandbanks to Studland it is a location ideal for exploring the local and wider attractions. South coast attractions nearby include Brownsea Island, Studland Beach, Poole and Bournemouth, and within walking distance is the Swanage Heritage Railway. The Isle of Purbeck cliffs are truly spectacular and lead onto the notable geological formations of Lulworth Cove and Durdle Door. Your hosts at April Cottage are Joanna and Peter Burri-Weaver and in keeping with the unique blend of characteristics on the Isle of Purbeck they offer a personalised level of Anglo-Swiss hospitality sure to make any guest feel welcome. In addition, not many guest accommodations can boast an ex-Olympian and SAS descendant for hosts and just for some extra appeal the full English breakfast which comes with every stay can be taken in the large gardens, weather permitting of course. Two guest rooms are available at April Cottage, a ground floor twin room with private bathroom and a large first floor double en-suite, reached by spiral staircase. The double room can accommodate a further bed. There is ample parking on-site and free Wi-Fi. The Lodge can accommodate 3-4 people or can be hired for a private BBQ. There is hardly a more romantic place for you to enjoy a cosy evening. ... more   less
