I've got to confess that this was our first camping trip for some years so wasn't too sure what to expect. Some of the highlights. The shop opening hours are very restricted so plan ahead for things like tokens for the showers or use the petrol station just down the road towards swanage (for general provisions, not shower tokens) There... Well located campsite, just outside of Corfe Castle but also in easy reach of Swanage. Lots to see and do in the local area. My son particularly enjoyed the Steam railway that runs alongside one of the fields. Waving at the passing trains became a daily event! Campsite has a reasonable shop and is divided into 3 fields. It was... More

Arrived at the campsite at around 6pm on a Saturday. There are 3 fields available, 2 with some electric hook-ups that also allow dogs and 1 without electric with no dogs allowed. The shop was open when we arrived but there was a very long queue (15 minutes). Officially the shop is only open for 1 hour in the morning... More

Situated just out of Corfe Castle on the Swanage road. Nice neatly mowed campsite fields. Well laid out, and good choice of sites. There is use of cars in all fields and be warned if you camp alongside the 'roads' - you have to be on constant watch with young kids as I wouldnt trust the speed drivers go with... More

This was our second trip to this site. On the whole it was a good experience and we enjoyed Purbeck as much as usual. There are a couple of points about the site that confuse me. First, there seems to be only one person working there and he's an odd soul...Perhaps a more energetic, charismatic host would benefit the site.... More

Firstly, the site owner isn't just rude, he's gratuitously rude. He seems to take pride in NEVER saying please or thank you. If you can get around that, this is a great site. The other staff we encountered were very friendly (and deserve a medal). Toilets and showers (50p a time) were very clean and usually available, even when the... More

Very nice site and ideal location for exploring area around Corfe. Nice level pitch for my Campervan and after the weekend very quiet & peaceful. Don't be put off by the proximity to the train line, it's brilliant to watch the old trains go past and mainly only between 9.00 a.m. and 6.00 p.m. Toilets and Showers reasonably clean but... More

My young son and I have stayed here twice now and had a fab time both times, there are 3 fields, one right next to the Swanage Railway (my son loves trains so it's ideal!) another set back from the tracks and another (no dogs in this one I think) to the other side and furthest away from the railway.... Returned today from another great stay at Woody Hyde, have been here many times since the current owner took over 16 yrs ago now, the site has greatly improved in that time with the addition of a lovely new shower block. The shop is well stocked and also sells wine and beer which is very handy. Although it was a... More
