Four of us decided to eat there one Saturday night. 1. We wanted to have a bar meal, but the combination of very noisy TV and screaming kids sent us to the restaurant. 2. For the pre-dinner drinks the gin and tonics were flat with not a single bubble and the dry white wine spritzer had lemonade, not soda water.... more

Stayed on business, it was very good value, clean but dated, but that didnt matter, nice swimming pool e.t.c on site but this costs £6 extra. The restauarnt was pretty average and overpriced so i advise you go looking about the town for a nicer meal. Locatuion was spot on and the town was lovely to walk about in. The... more

We have just returned from a 2 day break at the Windlestrae Hotel. The hotel is like a time warp. I am in my mid-thirties and the decor of this hotel has never been fashionable during my conscious lifetime! The carpets downstairs are a blue floral pattern. The hotel bar looks like the day room of an old peoples home.... more

Spacious hotel set in peaceful surroundings. Food was ok with the exception of receiving stale sandwiches for a lunchtime snack. Staff were friendly and helpful but generally the hotel is tired and dated. It could do with an upgrade. Rooms were very large and quiet. Didn't have time to try the swimming pool but it look good from outside. All... more

It's nice to see all the changes happening at the hotel. The function room and dining room have already been refurbished to a very high standard. The rooms are very spacious and comfortable and the food very good. The staff were excellent - very friendly and helpful. We visited on a golf break and the 2 golf courses were both... more

Have just returned from a one night stay at the Windelstrae. We stayed here 10 years ago and loved the place. Things have gone dramatically downhill since, and this stay must rate as the worst that we have ever experienced anywhere. With 2 young kids in tow we paid £95 for a twin room including breakfast. Upon entering the room... more

Stayed at hotel for a twixtmas break had a wonderful time, spacious rooms, good leisure centre which we virtually had to ourselves. Staff very helpful, excellent breakfasts cooked to order. The only thing that let the place down was the evening meal in the restaurant. What looked very appetising on the menu was very disappointing when served ,it was bland... more

We booked one night bed and breakfast as we were attending a celebration dinner in the area. We only paid £58 for a twin room but the room had to be the worst we have stayed in in this country. There was a strange smell which we could not quite place. Corners had not seen a hoover for many a... more

Following an excellent meal and an enjoyable meeting in the pleasant surroundings of the function suite (although slightly warm) my evening (2/1104) was soured by a scowling barmaid in the main bar who could not force a smile all night, threw empty bottles with an almighty crash into the bin and did not offer ice and slice with any shorts.... more
