There are signs up promoting 'delicious home-cooked food served Thursday to Sunday'. Three of us turned up at 7.30pm on a Friday to be told by a rather disinterested barmaid that the kitchen had shut early because there hadn't been any customers! So we got a taxi along to The Muirs in Kinross, which was busy; warm and cosy with... More

Having changed hands, the Thistle now has its old chef back and the food is fantastic. A well thought out menu, great choices, fresh produce, beautifully served. Can't fault it. A great ambience too, like the old days. We go there every week now, either family, friends, or as a couple.

This hotel has seen busier days but under a new manager should improve. The bedrooms have been refurbished and are well appointed and there is a nice restaurant but food has been unexciting in the past. A good cook is needed to produce 'gastro pub' meals of a high standard using local produce. A better choice of draught beers/lagers are... More

Didn't actually stay in the hotel but my wife, mother in law and sister in law ate here on the evening of 4th Nov 2011 and reported that the food was worse than average, and the service was very poor but the bill was very hefty, nothing you particularly you could put your finger on but just not good.

We arrived around 4pm and we had booked through groupon who give you a voucher for your stay, however the young guy at the desk did not know anything about this... More

We stayed here just one night as a stop over, heading up north. Our original plans had fallen through and we made a very quick booking on late rooms. We were very surprised with how lovely the room was lots of really nice touches, sky TV, local toiletries, biscuits and a hair dryer. The bathroom was really nice with a... More

The trip started a little poorly in that the hotel wasn't aware of the room configuration we had been offered by Laterooms so two ladies were given a king size bedded room. We were told on arrival that this would be sorted out by the manager "later". We had arrived at about 4.30pm. At 6.30pm I went down to the... More
