The spaces in this hostel are great. Lots of room to hang out in whatever style you wish. The kitchen is fantastic. The staff is amazing- super friendly , super helpful , intelligent! The beds are terrible. The worst of the trip . Over worn with the body dip , nasty springs sticking out, narrow( that's forgivable ). After a... More

I chose to go to Shetland at a really busy time (between two music festivals and during the wool week!) and found it hard to find accommodation without moving around every day or so, but found that I could stay at Isleburgh for the whole time and decided to give it a go - I paid extra to have a... Me and a friend stayed at Islesburgh recently, and we can't complain about anything the freedom that we had in the complex truly made it a cheerful place to bide. The staff were very friendly and the rooms were regularly cleaned, and cleaned well. I could go on and on, our stay was so brilliant. It's a 10/10 from me... More

Went to men's dorm because couldn't get a B&B. Dickensian room with six old metal- framed double bunks and squeaky springs close together. Only ceiling lights. Disturbances at night by two long-term residents coming and going while drinking. Little sleep. Manager allowed their behaviour. Glad to leave, three nights. You've been warned!

We enjoyed our stay and would go back, but there were no rooms for two left so we paid for a four-bedded room. This works out as quite expensive, because no allowance is made for the fact that two people use fewer sheets etc than four would do. The kitchen was generally well-equipped although there were no separate boards for... More

Friendly clean and welcoming hostel in a beautiful street in a lovely town on some fantastic islands filled with half Scottish half Norse people. Great sense of community & tradition on Shetland. I was on a group trip with around 40 other runners for a 2 day cross country running and drinking trip which coincided with Simmer Dim festival. Good... More

What a great place to stay, perfect location and an extremely accommodating team of staff. Clean, welcoming and to a very high hosteling standard. We were a large mixed group of children and adults, other guests were advised that the group was being accommodated at the hostel. Guests didn't have to stay if not happy and as noted in another... The hostel was a very convenient base for my Shetland visit. It is very close to the Lerwick centre. The facilities here are very good - large kitchen, dining room, TV lounge etc were all very clean and perfectly usable. The other guests were also good nurtured and it felt completely safe to stay in. The kitchen has a microwave... More

Stayed at the Hostel weekend 12th/13th July. Staff warned that there was a large group in including a lot of kids, so might be a bit noisy. Jim could not have been more helpful and even offered a refund if I wished to stay elsewhere!! A beautiful old building finished to a very high standard inside. Cleaning staff in everyday... More

Fantastic place. Location perfect - 5 minute walk from centre but quiet location. Jim and his team will do anything to make your stay as comfortable as possible. Cleaners come in every day so cleanliness is a of the highest standard. Great facilities on doorstep.
