A friend and I spent two nights at the Lerwick Hotel this January. It is clean and comfortable. Staff are friendly and very helpful. Great selection at breakfast time. The views from breakfast room and sitting room are stunning! I`d happily stay again and would recommed it. The decor is a bit dated but does not detract from pleasure of... more

If there was a competition for the ugliest hotel in Britain - at least from the outside - then the Lerwick Hotel would have little competition. A grey pebble-dashed low-rise 1970's building, it looks more like a health centre or perhaps even a council estate. Fortunately, once inside things get much better, although there's definitely a 70's theme going on... more

This is a tired 70's version of a bad travel inn. I stayed for the last two nights on business but will not return to this hotel. The only positive point to this hotel is the staff who were all very helpful. My room was shabby, the bed cheap, nasty and uncomfortable with a bright yellow nylon type blanket on... more

Expensive, dated, shabby - that's it really. Shetland is a wonderful place but isn't well served by hotels. The Lerwick is really shabby and dated, it looks like it has been refurbished for many years. The room was tiny, looked directly onto a wall and the furniture and bedding was very worn. The service at breakfast was appalling, made bearable... more

On the plus side, the staff were friendly and helpful, the view is lovely and the rooms were warm and dry. On the downside £108 a night for a room with pink nylon sheets on the bed, a small bath, thin walls, no “do not disturb” sign provided. An acceptable room if it was half the price, but at this... more

Stayed here for three nights. Food is excellent and bathrooms are clean and look recently refurbished but it is downhill from there on. Bedrooms are very basic and could do with a lick of paint. There are old carpets on the floor. My room was very dusty on arrival.Staff at main reception could do with a training course on customer... more

I have to disagree with the trip advisor from Kelso. I have been travelling to Lerwick for approximately 8 yrs now, on average 4 times per year. I have stayed regularly at the "Lerwick" and have always found the service to be excellent and the food also. more

I often stay at this hotel, on business. I would say it has good points and bad points. It's adequate and convenient, good parking, reasonable range of facilities and a much-needed and welcome source of room availability and dining options, not always easily found elsewhere in Lerwick, or at short notice. But is it really good enough to settle for... more

I recently stayed at the Lerwick on business, and had several rooms over several different weeks. The rooms are largely what you'd expect for the price, and were comfortable enough but........and in my book this is a clincher........the showers in every room I used were abominable. No water pressure at all, alternating hot/cold if so much as one other guest... more
