We have just stayed at Polrudden guest house with our family, returning to Sanday, Orkney. We arrived late at 23.30 pm from the Aberdeen ferry, the lovely hostess Linda had left instructions for us as to which rooms we were allocated, and we had been informed upon booking of our breakfast time. The rooms are spotless, cozy and very tastefully... More

This was not the most welcoming start to my holiday in Orkney. On arrival at the guest house there was no indication as to which room had been allocated and by a process of elimination and trying doors we eventually found a room which appeared to fit out requirements. The room was fine except we had no hot water in... More

We stayed at Polrudden Guest house for two nights in June. We arrived late and were pre advised which room was to be ours. All went smooth. Great breakfast. Would stay here again. Convenient location to downtown Kirkwall

We arrived here on the late ferry from Aberdeen at about 11.30pm. The front door of the guesthouse was unlocked but there was no-one around to welcome us. We were tired after leaving home at 5.00 am for an early morning flight to Aberdeen. There was no note anywhere to greet us - nothing to advise us about which room... More

Am here just now. Room very comfortable and spotless, as is en suite bathroom. Nice breakfast and pleasant landlady. No idea of prices as company has booked and paid for it. Have tried to book a future trip for some colleagues, but it's full on the dates I need - so they must be doing something right?

Our family stayed in two rooms for three nights in the Polrudden Guest House, which was full at that time. Our room was fairly large, nicely furnished and very comfortable. Breakfast was plentiful and delicious. Being able to easily walk to town through the nearby park was enjoyable. We had a rental car and traveled all over the Mainland to... More

My stay at the Polrudden Guest House was a mediocre yet expensive offering. The decor, if carbon dated, would probably date back to Skara Brae or any one of the numerous Neolithic offerings within Orkney. That said, Skara Brae was devoid of the horrors of thick dark shag carpet, an abundance of wood chip and a severe lack of soundproofing!... More

We stayed at the Polrudden Guest House with 2 young children and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. We arrived late in the evening (around 11pm) off the boat from Shetland on our first night but this was no problem. The room was clean, and comfortable, if a little cramped (but we did have 3 beds between the 4 of us) and... More

The $ is way too much for what you get. Clean, nice room, but sleep is difficult as there is no insulation from sound at all. 60£ a night for a single is ridiculous for such a small town with not much to see. The selection of cold items for breakfast is also wanting. Some cereals, a tiny bit of... More

We were given a double room on the top floor and were amazed at the size of the room as it was bigger than we had at some of our previous B&Bs. The room was well priced and came with the usual facilities including a towel warmer. The breakfast was tasty and our host was very welcoming. She had even... More
