Polrudden guest house is a gem of a place. The en-suite rooms are clean and well furnished. The breakfast is excellent. It has an ideal location just away from the centre of Kirkwall, with its own parking area if you take a car. You are made very welcome, although as guests have their own entrance, you feel in no way... More

Stayed for one night at Polrudded Guest House having booked in advance since we knew we had a family wedding that night on the island. Customer service at the time of booking was very welcoming and efficient. Lovely welcome from Linda who showed us to our room - scrupulously clean and VERY comfortable beds. Good sized ensuite with plenty towels... More

I spent one night here at Polrudden Guest House as I was visiting Orkney on a business trip at short notice. This is an extremely comfortable and clean guest house and the breakfast this morning was excellent. Linda Thornton the owner was very welcoming and accommodating. The bedroom was very pleasant with a large en-suite and the bed was extremely... More

The Polrudden was a microcosm of Orkney, welcoming and hospitable, and a huge breakfast worth getting up for after one VERY late night. On Kirkwall's doorstep and quiet and comfortable. We'll be back.

We stayed here for 2 nights and were pleasantly surprised. The room on the ground floor was clean and tidy with everything we needed. The bed was comfy and the bathroom a good size, nice hot shower with decent water pressure. The hostess was great and happy to assist with any questions or special requests. The breakfast was good and... More

Stayed here about three weeks ago for a couple of nights . Had a lovely welcome from Linda . Nice spacious and comfortable rooms . Plenty of parking spaces. Good hearty breakfasts and coffee . About ten minutes into town around model yacht lake ,peedie sea and park land .

We have just stayed at Polrudden guest house with our family, returning to Sanday, Orkney. We arrived late at 23.30 pm from the Aberdeen ferry, the lovely hostess Linda had left instructions for us as to which rooms we were allocated, and we had been informed upon booking of our breakfast time. The rooms are spotless, cozy and very tastefully... More

This was not the most welcoming start to my holiday in Orkney. On arrival at the guest house there was no indication as to which room had been allocated and by a process of elimination and trying doors we eventually found a room which appeared to fit out requirements. The room was fine except we had no hot water in... More

We stayed at Polrudden Guest house for two nights in June. We arrived late and were pre advised which room was to be ours. All went smooth. Great breakfast. Would stay here again. Convenient location to downtown Kirkwall

We arrived here on the late ferry from Aberdeen at about 11.30pm. The front door of the guesthouse was unlocked but there was no-one around to welcome us. We were tired after leaving home at 5.00 am for an early morning flight to Aberdeen. There was no note anywhere to greet us - nothing to advise us about which room... More
