We were met by Gemma and Stanley (one of her sons) upon our arrival. She was such a delight and showed us our room, which was just lovely. All done in blue. The room was immaculate! The next morning at breakfast we met Peter - who is such a gentle soul. Breakfast was absolutely delicious...and there was so much of... More

13 Palace Road is a real gem. Peter, Gemma and their adorable boys made us feel so welcome. The bedroom was clean and comfortable and the breakfast was superb. The location is also really convenient being so central but delightfully peaceful. We thoroughly enjoyed our visit and can't wait to go back.

We would thoroughly recommend this guest house for a stay in Kirkwall. The rooms were extremely comfortable and the breakfasts first class, cooked fresh to your order. Peter, Gemma and the boys were most hospitable and welcoming and could not have done more to make us most welcome. A wee gem! Edinburgh Gent!

A perfect location in the heart of Kirkwall, with a cathedral view. Peter is a warm person with good humour and lots of information. The room was really beautiful, perfectly equipped with tasty interior and nice colours and furniture. Pure luxury! Breakfast was enjoyable with fresh fruit and strawberries. We just couldn't ask for more. Recommend it for everyone visiting... More

Pete and Gemma werecourteous, welcoming and helpful hosts. We enjoyed the family participation, particularly when their cute son delivered the toast to our breakfast table. Our room was a recently decorated blue room with up-to-date features. It overlooks the cathedral. At the end of the day, it was like coming home.

This was my first visit to Orkney. A warm welcome, great accommodation, delicious and generous breakfast and very centrally located, including right next to the very impressive cathedral. Nothing is too much trouble. I will definitely use it again.

I travel to Orkney to see a client every couple of months and the first thing I do is call Peter and book in. I arrive off the 11pm ferry and Peter always waits up and welcomes me. The rooms are spotless and the breakfast is to die for. Stanley will keep you entertained and normally will show you his... More

We stayed three nights with Peter and Gemma and their young boys. They could not have been better hosts (including young Stanley who was being Gordon from the fire department while we were there). My friend and I shared a lovely, bright, room, plenty of space and immaculately clean, tastefully decorated in blues in a sort of casual seashore style.... More

Peter was a superb host - warm welcome, neat and tidy room, great breakfast each day and as a local had a great store of local knowledge. This was a great start to our 10 week UK holiday. Superb location - easy 5 minute walk to town, and straight over the road from the cathedral.

This B&B is the kind of place people return to, again and again. Peter and Gemma offer a warm welcome, comfortable beds, tastefully appointed rooms and delicious cooked breakfasts that would be hard to beat. Not only that but the location is ideal - right in town - within walking distance of shops, restaurants, bus station and harbour, and next... More
