Had a great short break here, the entrance didn't inspire much confidence, especially as it is dwarfed by the much grander kirkwall hotel next door. However our room was lovely, spacious, modern and clean. En suite was also very good quality. Facilities were good. We greatly enjoyed the cooked breakfast each morning, freshly cooked to order with good quality ingredients.... More

Friendly greeting at the reception desk, the room was spotless and looked to be recently remodeled. Great bar with just the right blend of locals and travelers. We were checked in for 1 night and ended up staying for 3 as the Hutchison family treated us like one of their own. Come stay a night (or three) and have a... More

Nice place with a decent breakfast. The best part was the wonderful welcome from the staff, owner, and the locals in the hotel bar. It really was one of the best nights ever on my trip to Orkney. Great fun.

On arrival we were told by staff that they were 'a bit of a shambles tonight so please bare with them', finally we got checked in and paid for our rooms. The following morning we had a knock on the door with a member of staff complaining we had not told them how many people in our party - surely... More

Basicly several rooms above a very noisy pub, can go on until 1.00 at the weekends but to be fair they warned me. I had a room at the back which a bit run down and in need of TLC, very 1960s. Staff were friendly, accomodation was clean and breakfast cooked to order. It is not suitable for the elderly... More

Booked this hotel on the internet and we were pleasantly surprised at the standard of both our allocated room and breakfasts. Our arrival off the Aberdeen ferry was at about 11.15pm but our hostess got us settled in no time. Our room had great harbour views and whatever we asked for was no trouble.

We booked this room in advance over others based on our very late arrival on the ferry from Lerwick. he rooms were very disappointing. We had high expectations and were disappointed in the service. I would recommend doing more research.

My first time to Orkney and would certainly recommend the St Ola, we had a room over looking the harbour which delighted my husband who watched the comings and goings for hours ( ex fisherman ) . The staff were very helpful ,polite and left a birthday card in our room when we arrived as it was my 50th Birthday... More

agree with yam who I was on tour with , the front of the hotel is in need of a bit of TLC , but don't let that put you off ,rooms and service very good ,ideal base for exploring Orkney, the view from the hotel overlooks the harbour which I for one could watch the commings and goings for... More

stayed for two nights withfriends on motorbikes, bit of a mix up over prices on check in which led to overcharge on card, but it was sorted and put back without us being there and receipt put in our room which was great. rooms were really spacious and nice, ours at the front over looked the harbour which was brilliant....
