This hostel is within walking distance from the center of Kirkwall, groceries store and it has a parking lot if you are driving. The rooms are spacious and the bathroom was clean. This is a small hostel so there was not to busy. I would definitely recommend this hostel to anyone.

I stayed here for 4 days and it was wonderful. There wasn't anyone at the desk when I arrived but they were there within minutes of me ringing the bell as they lived next door. I shared a room with one person for my first night the rest of the time I was by myself. The room was large and had... More

What a lovely place to stay. Although they were obviously busy they made time to make me feel welcome. The room, a share with four bunks, was clean as was the shower room. The kitchen had all you could want and as an added bonus there were 'free' baskets around the place with other users left overs (jams, honey, cereal... More

The double room here was not at all worse than the rooms in various B&Bs - maybe some furniture was a bit older, but the room was cosy, the bed very comfy, the walls painted in bright colors, the bathroom clean and OK. The wifi works very well. We only slept here only one night and we arrived very late,... More

We had a double room for 2 nights-- really lovely with a skylight window that you could open, as well as an ensuite bathroom. With towels, even! The wifi was spotty, but the living room area was really cozy and the kitchen had everything we needed. The town of Kirkwall is a short walk away, and the TESCO is even... More

This is the best hostel I have ever stayed in, comfortable and very clean rooms plus en suite 'BONUS'. The facilities are also top notch, great kitchen and dining area. Public transport within walking distance and shops 5 mins away. I will defo be staying ago when I return to Orkney.

I stayed at this Hostel as part of a bus tour and was very pleasantly surprised, as it was the best one I stayed at. I had a private room, and it was much more like a motel room than a hostel. It had a double bed and the bedding and the colour schemes etc were very rich and welcoming.... More

I was motorcycling around Scotland with a friend and decided to visit Orkney for just one night. Orcades was actually recommended by another hostel as they were fully booked - how friendly is that! The owners of the hostel are so easy to deal with, the price is just fine and the level of comfort and facilities is perfect. There... More

We stopped at this place for three nights after being horrified at the B&B prices of £80 per person per night. This place was £50 a night for a double en-suite. The place looks OK from the outside, but it is brilliant inside. The room was very clean and comfortable with a lovely bed and a kettle. There was a... More

Just a lovely beautiful house that happens to have hostel beds. That is the sign of a lovely place, when it feels like a home. I loved it here! Everything was clean and the lounge area was fantastic with lots of games, DVDs and books for a nice night in, which is good as nights out in Orkney are a... More
