Arrived without a booking and got a room easily. The room was good if a little small as was the bathroom. We stayed on the second floor and had problems connecting to the wifi. The hotel restaurant was very good. Overall a pleasant stay.

The Shore is an excellent base for travelling in and around Orkney. 2 minutes walk from the Ferries to the otheer islands. Modern decor and design, great food, helpful staff. I wouldn't stay anywhere else on Orkney.

I suspect there are no great hotels in Kirkwall, and The Shore gets 'OK' rating but no more too. We chose this hotel for its location and reviews of its restaurant. Location was great, hotel staff were very friendly, rooms were functional yet very clean and spacious, and food at the restaurant was just great. They offered a nice variety of seafood, very fresh.

First time in Kirkwall for many years, but definately found a great base at the Shore. Excellent bar, food and room. Staff extremely friendly and got the craic with the owner Gareth. Absolutely could not be faulted.
