Have recently spent two nights at the Shore on a stag weekend,on my first visit to Orkney. The room was well presented, comfortable and a good size for a twin room.A lovely breakfast was provided, cereal, toast and a full Scottish. The staff were all very welcoming and friendy and a special mention for Ray who was the perfect host.

Stayed here for two nights as a senior member of a Stag Party. A few small gripes, the twin room I shared with my brother wasn't the biggest but was adequate. The shower was a bit cramped, looked about 800x800mm and had an old-fashioned electric shower which wasn't very powerful. The good stuff - superb breakfast menu with excellent choices.... More

Thank you for your kind words. I am really pleased that you enjoyed your stay at The Shore. When you next come to stay and are looking for a twin room, ask for rooms 23 or 24 which have larger power showers than in room 12 where you stayed. I am glad that you and your group had a good... More

Have just spent three nights at The Shore as part of a larger group of 10 of us. We were made very welcome particularly by Julie, who did everything she could to ensure we had a good time whilst there. The room was large and comfortable at the top of the hotel with an excellent large shower. Over our stay... More

Have just returned from a lovely three night stay at this very comfortable and extremely friendly and welcoming hotel. Our room was very comfortable, clean and pleasantly decorated with an attractive well fitted en-suite shower room. The breakfasts were plentiful and tasty. We also had a dinner and lunch in the hotel and were not disappointed. Both were delicious and... More

I stay at a lot of hotels in Scotland both with my family and indeed as a single business traveller. On this occasion my journey was a long drive from Inverness, Pentland Firth ferry crossing, and a drive to Kirkwall on a Sunday night in order to achieve my work requirements. I booked a room direct at the Shore Inn... More

I would like to apologise to this guest. The duty supervisor at The Shore had already let me know that there had been issues with the stay of this guest and I sent a letter of apology on the day that the guest departed. In terms of the heating in the room, all rooms have heaters with timers that should... More

Good size room ,clean & tidy, bed comfortable. Evening meal was excellent & I highly recommend the Orcadian beef, which was delicious. Would overnight there again. Great location overlooking the harbour, and only a few minutes walk to catch the Outer Island Ferry. Staff friendly and welcoming and very helpful.

I stayed here for two seperate nights in September whilst travelling from/to Stronsay to/from Manchester. Small rooms, very clean, all facilities and a comfortable bed. Excellent food - have had the lunchtime food several times in the past and the full breakfast was very good. A bit of noise from the road outside but nothing excessive.

We stayed for one night in August and I am afraid this was the low point of our holiday. Having paid £95 for a room we were expecting a lot more than this hotel delivered. On arrival we were presented with a key, told that breakfast would be an additional charge and given hasty directions to our room. There was... More

We recently spent 3 nights here and although at first we thought the room ok after three days decided it was not worth £95 a night. The interior decoration was good and modern, but the beds were hard, very low to the ground and we both had sore backs each morning. Our room was on the first floor and a... More

Had an evening drink in the public bar after a concert which was fine. Came back a couple of mdays later for lunch. This was not our first choice but since it was after 2.30 other paces on the harbour had closed. Lounge looked a little dark and tired but we got a warm and friendly welcome from the barman... More
