Only stayed one night here to break a journey north. Good room, scrupulously clean. Delightful village setting allowing for a decent walk in the evening air to help digest an agreeable meal. Lively discussion with the host about Scottish independence the following morning! Very relaxing and enjoyable stay – thank you.

We stayed for one night to break our journey from the highlands and we're so pleased that we did. The owners are extremely friendly and welcoming and the room was very well appointed and comfortable. Dinner was delicious and there was a great range of alcohol to sample.. especially the whisky. Highly recommended.

Many thanks for choosing us for your stopover on your way back home - hidden away but not too far from the motorway. We hope to see you again. M&M More

No complaints. Characterful peaceful inn convenient to the motorway but far enough away to be in another world. Excellent meals (in season local lamb truly memorable). Would genuinely recommend a stay here. Service fully up to the mark

Many thanks for taking the time to post a review Lyndon and it's great you had a good stay. The Lamb really is pretty special don't you think ? We're kind of blessed with wonderful local produce here in Dumfriesshire and glad you appreciated it. M&M More

We are so pleased that we found this place! Breaking our journey from Argyll to the Hull Ferry and after a warm welcome by Mark, we settled down for a delicious dinner in this cosy inn (the photos on this site don't to it justice, check out their new website). After a good night's sleep in the very comfortable and... More

We were lucky to book the Hightae Inn, as our stop en route to the Commonwealth games. Our two king size rooms were very comfortable and spotless, with everything available including an excellent evening meal on the Saturday night. We would not hesitate to return on any future trip into Scotland.

Glad you enjoyed yourselves - shame you didn't have time for breakfast before your visit to the Games. Maybe next time ? Cheers. M&M, The Hightae Inn. More

Hightae has become our regular stop off on our annual pilgrimage to Scotland. We go for the great hospitality of Mark and Morag and the meal of locally sourced ingredients and fine accommodation. This year, my wife got a new recommendation for the whisky to mix with her ginger ale. Mark feels that malt tastes good with mixers too.

We really enjoyed our stay & the meal. Hightae is conveniently close to the motorway but very quiet. This will be regular stop off when we migrate North each year. Very comfortable & clean room. Our host was very entertaining and welcoming.

We visited Hightae Inn enroute from Inverness to Stoke-on-Trent. We only stayed one night but really wished we'd stayed longer. Mark and Morag are the perfect hosts, the food was great (especially the locally smoked salmon for breakfast), the bar was lovely and the bedrooms were so comfortable! We travelled with my mother and Mark and Morag went out of... More

John & Eileen - thanks for finding and staying with us on your way home and glad you enjoyed the place. The 'Green' thing by the way - we converted our oil fired central heating system to Biomass last year. See you again. M&M More
