My husband and I, with a friend, stayed here last weekend for two nights in order to visit the jazz festival. Norman and Sheila made us most welcome, providing wonderful food slightly early to allow for the 8pm concert starts. The hotel may be slightly dated, as mentioned in other reviews especially in the bathrooms, but it was very comfortable... More

A one night stay for six of us so limited time to experience the area. This was acceptable for our purposes. Clean and tidy. Nice carvery for dinner and well stocked bar. Norman and Sheila are sure to look after you.

We stayed here one night to break journey to Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, it was like we had stopped in the 1970's...... the only highlight of our stay was breakfast, which if I was feeling generous, I would give a 7/10 We were welcomed by the rudest woman I have ever had the misfortune to meet, who unbelievably turned out... Ouch! You asked my opinion on arrival on something nothing to do with my business and I gave what I considered to be a pretty honest answer not a rude one! More

Had Sunday Carvery lunch here recently, and it was just right. Great service from the owner and his wife as well as pleasant quietly efficient waiting on staff. The choice of the very well cooked carvery offerings was superb, two roasts, a lovely home made chicken & ham pie, fish, veggie option and because the weather was so good -... More

We needed a stopover for a night on our way home from holiday in Scotland and rang at the last minute as we have stayed here before. The owners are always welcoming and friendly and the hotel has a cosy feeling. The room we had was lovely and clean with everything you need. The food is really good here. We... More

staff were friendly, our room was spotless. The bed was very comfortable and room warm, and plenty of hot water. It was also good value. Yes as previous people have mentioned the decor is not too my taste but who cares, when everything else fits the bill.

We stayed at the hotel on the 17th August after a long journey from the isle of Skye and were desperate to find somewhere to stay early evening, we were very lucky that they had a couple of rooms. Very weary we then had the most superb meal all home grown hearty meals with purple potatoes it was great and... More

Georgian style hotel set in lovely grounds on the outskirts of Lockerbie. Arrived mid afternoon and were given key to family room. Very big room with double bed and fold down couch. Room was very warm so a fridge would have been welcomed. Shower attachment in bath served no purpose and tv was stuck on bbc1. Rooms decorated in style... More

Stayed one night to break a journey. Had adjoining rooms for two adults and four kids, and the dog. Good things - spotless, lovely comfy beds, good pub style food in the bar, fantastic breakfasts, friendly helpful owners, kids and dog made to feel very welcome down to the provision of a football to kick about the garden after breakfast.... if you are seeking an authentic 1970s experience then look no further. Menu was a carvery the night we visited, had clearly been standing a long time. Relations between the owners and staff reminded me of Fawlty Towers, quite a few harsh words spoken and non English speaking waitress clearly not understanding her instructions. Very old fashioned, although spotless. Ironically... More

Decor is very much personal taste in a smaller hotel it is traditional as I think this suits a sandstone house built in 1874. As I recall you phoned and booked last minute as you were travelling down from Perth and our family suite was already booked. I did give you a discount on the cost of the smaller family... More
