We are Kiwi's who stumbled onto this hotel because of a detour on the road to Dumfries. The atmosphere and the fantastic meals were awesome. We met some really nice people and laughed well into the evening. Don't bypass this hotel - get in and meet Norman and Sheila - hopefully you will have the same experience.Oh yeah - the... More

Hotel is easy to find just off the A74m. Room 2 with four-poster bed is a good size with beautiful garden and countryside views. A little dated but clean and comfy which is most important to us. Nice choice of toiletries. Just two litte niggles; the signal kept going on the tv which was very annoying especially when watching Wimbledon!... More

Rooms dated and staff rude we were made to feel that we were an irritation. A colleague and myself were told that the big breakfast was for big builders not ladies so we had to order it obviously. very rude.

This person did NOT stay at Ravenshill in June 2014 or any other time as we have NO single rooms at all. This review is rubbish. Our bedrooms can be booked for single occupation but they are all a good size and have either two single beds or a double or king size bed in them and three also have... More

We visited here on may 1st 2015 for a small family wedding and after letting the hotel know in advance of my allergies (egg and dairy) i was really worried i wouldn't be able to have anything, well they went above and beyond! Not only did i enjoy a main which was delicious, the chef freshly prepared me a soya... More

My husband and I, with a friend, stayed here last weekend for two nights in order to visit the jazz festival. Norman and Sheila made us most welcome, providing wonderful food slightly early to allow for the 8pm concert starts. The hotel may be slightly dated, as mentioned in other reviews especially in the bathrooms, but it was very comfortable... More

A one night stay for six of us so limited time to experience the area. This was acceptable for our purposes. Clean and tidy. Nice carvery for dinner and well stocked bar. Norman and Sheila are sure to look after you.

We stayed here one night to break journey to Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, it was like we had stopped in the 1970's...... the only highlight of our stay was breakfast, which if I was feeling generous, I would give a 7/10 We were welcomed by the rudest woman I have ever had the misfortune to meet, who unbelievably turned out... Ouch! You asked my opinion on arrival on something nothing to do with my business and I gave what I considered to be a pretty honest answer not a rude one! More

Had Sunday Carvery lunch here recently, and it was just right. Great service from the owner and his wife as well as pleasant quietly efficient waiting on staff. The choice of the very well cooked carvery offerings was superb, two roasts, a lovely home made chicken & ham pie, fish, veggie option and because the weather was so good -... More

We needed a stopover for a night on our way home from holiday in Scotland and rang at the last minute as we have stayed here before. The owners are always welcoming and friendly and the hotel has a cosy feeling. The room we had was lovely and clean with everything you need. The food is really good here. We... More

staff were friendly, our room was spotless. The bed was very comfortable and room warm, and plenty of hot water. It was also good value. Yes as previous people have mentioned the decor is not too my taste but who cares, when everything else fits the bill.
