A little tired but good comfortable beds and warm reception. Dinner service is a little slow, breakfast is nice and very accommodating for 2 small children. We would go back and do it all again. Close to beaches and bike rides too.

A quiet and spacious hotel with very friendly staff and an easy feel to it. The hotel is comfortable and very clean and although dated this hotel has everything you need for a quiet getaway. The room was large and cosy, cleaned each day but we never saw a cleaner!! As the hotel closed down for the night early a... More

I stayed here with my boyfriend for a long weekend away. After reading reviews on here we kind of expected it to be a bit like a care home. We literally just sat in the room and laughed. This is on a complete other level. When we parked outside we thought the hotel looked a bit tired, but still pleasant... More

Stayed here for the weekend, knew from here it might be shabby but that was an under statement. Walls peeling, room smelt damp, towel rail didn't work, pathetic shower and couldn't adjust the temperature. No one had put the heating on for our arrival so the room was cold and unwelcoming. Duvet cover was ripped. The room was clean but that... More

This small hotel is a little out of town, but in a quiet area surrounded by fields. It has an attractive outside building and small gardens, but the inside is quite out of date and needs a bit of TLC. It does have plenty of charm and character. The staff were friendly, the beds were comfy, the room was very... More

We returned to the South Lawns for the 5th year running for a weekend break with my parents. As usual the hotel was clean, warm and comfortable. You have probably read other reviews, and yes it is tired and the decor is very 80s, but that doesn't detract from the olde world charm. Our evening meal in the restaurant was... More

We stayed here for 2 nights and got a good price for a late booking. Service was very good and this was the best feature of the hotel. Breakfast was included and plenty to chose from and no complaints about this. The bedroom was spacious and beds clean. However the decor was dated with cobwebs from the light shades. Carpets... More

Just spent two nights at South Lawn. Lovely hotel with a beautiful garden. Can only give it 4 out 5 because the wallpaper in our room needed changing and the bathroom needed re-grouting. But having said that the restaurant, bar and reception areas were fine and quite smart. Very restful hotel and every member of staff was helpful at all... More

As someone who has stayed in lots of Hotels over the years you very rarely find a place that gives you that homely relaxing feeling. The staff couldn’t do enough for your, the food and service were excellent and the wife and I had a really laid back enjoyable stay. We will be back
