Thank you Duncan and Alex for another lovely stay at the Hill House. Wonderful breakfasts, a relaxed evening in the new hot tub and a chance to get away from it all. Can't wait to return. Welsh wines, great beer, organic food and a really friendly welcome.

We spent a few nights here after Christmas and it was a lovely break. Not getting there till late on the Friday night we were welcomed in to the lovely house where the owner lit a fire and gave us a complementary bottle of wine and let us settle in. The next morning he went out to get some fresh... More

A few words- comfortable, relaxing, unconventional, building site, hospitable, shambles, homely, welcoming. The first morning of our stay it was pouring with rain. Never before have I thought (while in a B&B) I could quite happily spend the day here. Freedom to roam, to sit surrounded by books or in the lounge/bar. Even the opportunity to watch a DVD in... This is the place to go when you have had enough of boring, soulless hotels. The owners of this hotel are genuinely caring and very, very funny! The hotel is delightfully quirky and a delicious well cooked dinner can be followed by relaxing in the hot tub under a starry sky. Make sure that you arrive hungry, Duncan will cluck... More

We decided to stay again after paddling down the wye for a couple of days and had the best chill out possible, rhubarb vodka, English ' champagne' , the enormous breakfasts and interesting banter and local recommendations. Cannot praise Duncan enough and look forward to revisiting to experience the new hot tub with chinese blue lights! To the next time... More

My girlfriend and I had a lovely stay in this classic old house. Lots of nice walks about and Duncan fed us incredibly well - the food was excellent and plentiful. We'll definitely be returning. Recommended!

My wife and I have just arrived back after a short break at the Hill House for our wedding anniversary. We were made very welcome by Duncan and his family (and Boo the dog). We stayed in the North Suite which has a large balcony with stunning views. The breakfast was of very good quality locally sourced food and plenty... More

Like a previous reviewer, we have been coming back here for seven years as often as we can for a romantic break. It is amazing value for money. It's just perfect. There is nothing quite like Hill House. It has a wonderful shambly, rambly feel. And Duncan and Alex are the essence of laid-back friendly hosts. Not super tidy downstairs.... More

This was our first stay at Hill House, and it certainly made an impression! It isn't your run-of-the-mill hotel or guest house, so don't visit if you're looking for predictability. Duncan and Alex are incredibly welcoming without being overbearing. They really do treat you like one of the family, giving you the run of the house and friendly advice whenever... More

We have been coming to hill house every year once or twice and even sometimes 3 times. We come for the banter... Beer... Food... Scenery...fires... Relaxation and all in all the felling of coming home and throwing aside any other cares... I hope hill house is always there for us... And wish Alex and Duncan all the best. We used... More
