Stayed for 2 nights in January. There isn't an awful lot to do in Ross on Wye, but it is a nice place for a stroll around, and quite near the forest by car. First impressions were very good, the public areas of the hotel are very charming. We had room 12, which had a double and a single. We... More

Had a two night stay between Christmas and New Year. The hotel is full of character, all the staff were very pleasant and helpful. We ate at the restaurant on both evenings and the food was delicious, breakfast was also very good. The bar area can get busy with non-residents but there is also a lovely library to sit and... This is the second time we have stayed at the Kings Head and I can highly recommend it. Great nights sleep, lovely warm room, nice breakfast and dogs are welcome in certain rooms and parts of the hotel (our dogs love it!) Looking forward to staying again in 2015.

A last minute stay at this place turned into a nightmare. The room was fine - until we wanted a bottle of water. There was none available in the room so we dialled '0' for reception and a very grumpy proprietor informed us that we couldn't have any. Upon arguing the point, my friend went downstairs to collect the water,... More

I'm sorry your memory is a little hazy on your visit. Initially you booked a room for just your boyfriend as he didn’t want to drive home after drinking. Despite being quoted for a double, you insisted that there would be only one guest staying and paid for a single. After enjoying your meals, drinks at the bar and three... More

Stayed here for 2 nights. Decided to go for their DBB deal on the Friday and just BB on Saturday. Dinner was fabulous - serving staff need to understand having 3 serve a table of 6 is excessive when other tables are waiting, however the quality and choice for an inclusive package is really good. Good wine choice, one of... More

Lovely clean place, top to bottom. Room was massive, fantastic shower, comfiest bed I've slept in for a long time. Tea & coffee and water in room. Breakfast included, stayed one night £52 all in. Bargain in any book! Will stay here every time I'm in Ross.

Lovely, well kept, well presented hotel with friendly staff. Hotel room (14) was small I suppose but really clean and was quite cosy. The size of it seriously didn't matter in any way? We only had breakfast there which was included in the price. This was superb with a local butchers sausage which were fab. Choice of juices, cereals and... More

Excellent value for a recently refurbished and stylish room. Great bar with large terrace looking out down the hill over the River Wye. Just next to the lovely churchyard and seconds from the pretty marketplace of the town.

If you need to be in and around Ross-on-Wye, then this is my recommendation. Always clean and friendly. The breakfast is perfect and the 60 foot well in the dining room is an interesting feature indicative of the age and history of the place. Very well kept Wye Valley 'Butty Bach' on draught as well.
