We were really looking forward to our night's stay here. We arrived early, and had no trouble checking in. However, only a few minutes after we had checked in we had reason to return to the desk and the girl asked us if we were staying there - didn't make us feel very special!! Unfortunately we were allocated a room... more

Unlike a lot of the Old English/ Green King Inns that we have stayed in , the Royal was not understaffed. The staff were very professional, organised and pleasant. In fact, all of the people we came across in Ross-on-Wye were very pleasant and friendly. Although our room was one of the cheapest it was large and the bed was... more

Ive recently stopped at this hotel and thought that the stay was overall ok. This was my first time stopping at the hotel. I shall explain upon check-in we was asked if we would like a newspaper there was two rooms, on the first morning only one had a paper, on the second morning there was two papers but one... more

I was a little unsure of visiting this hotel, purely down to the cost. I thought at £60 for a family room per night it would not be all that great. However, this is a little gem and well worth a visit. The rooms are fine, a fair size with everything that you expect. We had a view across the... more

A pleasant hotel in a good location, near the town centre in the beautiful county of Herefordshire. A reasonable size room with a side view of the river. The room was clean and comfortable with all facilities. Being an Old English Inn, the hotel was dated but this is expected and is part of the charm. The staff were friendly,... more

My wife and i had a short break of 3 nights with our black lab Sally. The location of the hotel is excellent, just off the busy high street for shops and resteraunts- but in a quiet srteet just around the corner - best of both. plenty of parking at this time of year. The hotel and room were clean... more

A good location overlooking th River Wye is what was quoted and thats is exactly what we got. I initially booked an executive room after noting an offer in BBC Olive magazine. We would probably label ourselves as foodies and if Olive promoted it then all well and good. Unfortunately the room we were allocated was a bit dismal and... more

We have just returned from a fantastic week end away. The hotel is well situated for sight seeing on foot and by car. The hotel was very clean, the room was very large with fantastic views over the river. Breakfast was excellent everything from fresh juices and pastries to a full english. We ate in the hotel both nights, excellent... more

We visited the Royal last week for two nights mid week. We paid forty five pounds a night per room for bed and breakfast. On arrival I asked if the double room, which was all the web site had offered, could be changed for a twin, no problem. Our room in the newer annex was very large. The twin beds... more

We booked a late deal and for the price we paid it was excellent. Two doubles and one single were all very comfortable. When we asked if the single, room 5 I think, was typical of all their single rooms we were told it was probably the least nice one they have but we thought it was absolutely fine. The... more
