On a visit down to see family we stopped off for lunch at this delightful inn overlooking the river. My husband had the Cheddar and Brie summer salad and I had the ham summer salad and they were delicious but beware the portion are large. The ham was beautiful and home cooked and there must have been 5 thick slices.... More

Called in at lunchtime for a quick bite to eat on our way to Devon for a week's holiday. The staff were very welcoming, friendly and helpful. The homemade fish finger sandwich and the bacon and brie are definitely to be recommended! We just wish the weather had been a bit warmer so that we could have sat outside and... More

My other half and I were staying in the area for a work trip and stumbled upon the White Lion. We were so glad we did! We shared a perfectly chilled and very reasonably priced bottle of prosecco and had the fish pie and steak and ale pie with extra veg for mains. The food was so tasty, absolutely home... More

We stayed overnight and enjoyed a good evening meal and smashing cooked breakfast. We spent the evening in the bar which was very friendly, and all of the staff were very welcoming. Although the rooms could do with a bit of decorating and TLC, the great service and wonderful setting made all the difference.

On a perfectly stunning Bank holiday...rare I know! we popped in for food and sat outside along the river. The menu is well priced and totally worth it. I was defeated by my gammon, that would never normally happen! Lol and the battered onion rings...yummy! :) the boyfriends mahoosive steak n ale pie went down well too. Great staff and... More

The decor was dated and unclean... Food pricey for what it was... Needs a complete overhaul of food, decor, and kept clean.! Such a shame as it has a lovely position overlooking the river. Not a nice place for family eating.

Picked out of the blue, we couldn't fault the restaurant when we met family there for a Mothers Day lunch. The food was great, the service speedy, and staff very friendly and helpful. We will be going there again.

My wife and I had dinner there. The atmosphere is most definitely "local pub" rather than hotel. Lot's of jolly locals at the bar and families with kids. If you are looking for a fun place to have a drink it's OK. I can't recommend it for food though based on the meal we were served which was a throwback... More

We were canoeing the Wye River for 3 days stopping off at little pubs along the way. The White Lion just past Ross on Wye was the perfect stop, places to pull the canoe up, storage for paddles etc. and a warm welcome. Our room was warm and comfortable and our meal in the bar downstairs home cooked and just... More

Located in the village of Wilton, a stone's throw from the centre of Ross-On-Wye and yards from the A40, the White Lion is a classic, red sandstone Hereford building in an enviable riverside setting, with a large, sheltered deck and patio overlooking the river and the countryside beyond. We were watching pheasants whilst eating lunch Although the building is historic,... More
