Its Ok but could be so much more. We camped mid way through a Wye canoe trip. 2 good things about the place - the location/ view and the beer. The list of negatives is slightly longer unfortunately. There was dog muck on the green - one trodden in piece just where the officiotus staff member wanted us to pitch... More

Camped on the green, soon found plenty of dog muck and began to regret our decision to camp. Staff officious and unfriendly almost hostile. Food OK, facilities OK, they do cater for the 'canoe' trade. Pity really as friendly staff and absence of dog muck would have made for a much more enjoyable stay. We won't be returning anytime soon.

We enjoyed a good value bar meal. Relaxed atmosphere and the waitress was very attentive and helpful. Good selection on the menu, tasty fresh salad and good beer. Nothing to complain about here. Riverside location very attractive.

Fantastic location just on the river, real ale and local cider which was great, the bar staff even cooled the glass down before pouring the cider in. The food however was below average when you have mastered the exceptionally complecated code system on the menu which caters for every type a food allergy and food need. hopefully you don't need... Camped here on the second night of a canoe trip along the river Wye. Nice friendly welcome by the bar staff, good selection of ales. Camp site faces the river and has a stunning view. Very wide ranging food menu, mostly typical pub grub. Fried breakfast a bit of a let down and slightly overpriced. Main gripe was the 24... More

We camped at this Riverside pub on their lawn for one night where it was surprisingly quiet. The staff were helpful and courteous, the ale was excellent and the food (dinner and breakfast) was pretty good too.

Came here with my parents for lunch. Fantastic setting right on the river with pretty garden and covered patio area. Friendly staff and great drinks selection. Menu was good and a wide variety of food to choose from..... took me ages to decide what to have. Opted for fish pie which was served with a lovely very generous size salad.... More

We arrived at the White Lion, mid-afternoon, on our second day of Canoeing on the River Wye, never was a sight more wonderful for weary travellers! We were in a small party, two teenagers and two ladies on a half-term adventure. Pulling the canoe on to the bank was a bit of a challenge (no more so than anywhere else... More

On a visit down to see family we stopped off for lunch at this delightful inn overlooking the river. My husband had the Cheddar and Brie summer salad and I had the ham summer salad and they were delicious but beware the portion are large. The ham was beautiful and home cooked and there must have been 5 thick slices.... More

Called in at lunchtime for a quick bite to eat on our way to Devon for a week's holiday. The staff were very welcoming, friendly and helpful. The homemade fish finger sandwich and the bacon and brie are definitely to be recommended! We just wish the weather had been a bit warmer so that we could have sat outside and... More
