We've just returned from 4 days at the Sour Mill Cove Hotel. It was very nice- not outstanding but good for a couple of days. If we went back then we would pay for a sea view room. We were in the Rosemary Rose and there is a room upstairs from there- we could hear every word and footstep The... more

This was my first visit to soar mill cove hotel. If you are looking for a location that is set in a stunning area, peace and tranquility and a few miles from the nearby towns then this is the place. I took my dog and you can open your patio doors onto a large frontage lawn that has a view... more

Soar Cove Mill is a very nice hotel. The staff are extremely friendly and very helpful in response to any requests. The beach is lovely (when it’s there - be aware that when the tide’s in, there’s very little beach at all). The food is excellent at times (not so great at others). The indoor pool is warm, albeit a... more

Great welcome, offered a real old Clotted Cream Tea when I arrived on a blustery afternoon, after a busy day on the road. A hotel with real character oozing charm was just what I needed after a load of streeful meetings. So much nicer than the usual coporate hotels I use. I enjoyed a really nice meal, not too fancy... more

This is the third time my family has stayed here. As usual the owner and staff were very welcoming and seemed genuinely concerned that we were happy. A relaxing break in a beautiful location with lovely food and continues to be a family favourite. more

If you are looking on the internet for hotel in Salcombe the Soar Mill is always the first hotel to be displayed and their website makes the hotel look and sound very attractive. We therefore had high expectations of our 4 night stay (which was not cheap at £1000 half board). Our first impressions were very disappointing - our room... more

Having read a few of the reviews I feel I have to have my say on the hotel and the Makepeace family. I am due to arrive at the hotel in mid July 2008 and this will be the 3rd time! I am a company director and have had the good fortune to stay in some of the top hotels... more

Stayed for 3 nights in June, was really blown away by the landscape around the hotel. It sits in a cool little valley above a small cove with a tiny little beach, very scenic and pleasant. I was a bit baffled though by the signs on the road leading to the hotel, maybe I'm nitpicking here but they are dark... more
