The Hotel has a fabulous location right by the beach but as soon as you walk through the door you are back in the 70's. It really does need updating. The corridors leading to the bedrooms have a musty smell to them and the feel is old fashioned. The bathrooms are fine but again the bedrooms are at best OK, wallpaper... more

This hotel is in an ideal location, tries hard but doesn't quite make it! The rooms are not cheap and our balcony room was quite small, no minibar and dated furnishings. Lovely view of the bay but if you wanted to lie in bed in the morning with the curtains open, anyone on the next balcony could see straight in!... more

I like this hotel. It's an ugly lump of a building, but in a stunning setting right by the water, with wonderful views all round. The pool and spa area is pleasant, with wonderfully warm water on a sunny day. Food and wine good, and very decently they upgraded my single room to a suite without me asking for it.... more

We stayed for 3 days at the Tides Reach. It is in a fantastic, quiet location, set in a lovely garden right opposite the beach. The hotel is quite traditional and very comfortable. It is extremely well run, both efficient and friendly. The staff were very helpful and pleasant. Our room had a fantastic view of the estuary, was well... more

We have just had 2 nights at Tides Reach and were very impressed; although initially giving a 1970's feel, the decor inside had been updated, the rooms clean and tidy and the staff excellent. Breakfast was good; evening dinner was fantastic and I would strongly recommend staying in for a meal. Location is rather tucked away but that adds to... more

We have just returned from a 2 night stay at The Tides Reach Hotel. The location of the hotel is stunning - just next to the beach and not far from the main town. The decor is rather faded. Also we would definitely not recommend Room number 3. Not only did we hear every footstep made by the couple above... more

We have just come back from a delightful stay at the Tides Reach. From the moment we arrived it was welcoming and luxuriously comfortable for both us and our little dog. The rooms are very comfortable with everything you need with fabulous views over South Sands (we stayed in an Estuary room). The food was wonderful and we were so... more

Our first visit, and we found it came up to all expectations. The service, the food and the situation all combined to provide us with a memorable experience, for which we felt the cost was entirely reasonable. We would like to visit again - maybe next year! Some people might find accessability a little stressful - you have to be... more

My wife and I have just returned from 3 nights half board. Location is stunning at back of a pretty but relatively isolated beach - it's ideal for a young family with children who wish to play and relax there. Road access is a bind for those who don't enjoy backing up a hundred yards or so on each bend... more

This is probably one of the last family run hotels in Devon doing an absolutely superb high-quality job (along with the Commodore at Instow, and some of the Brend hotels). Perfect sunny location with a small beach opposite, ferry to Salcombe leaves from outside the hotel so just leave your car here and enjoy the secluded stunning position, or use... more
