A lovely mix of faded charm, wonky floors, attentive staff but with large comfortable beds and modern bathrooms. It was a pleasure to relax in the comfortable bar area overlooking the main square of Tavistock with its dark stone buildings and pannier market. Snacks and more substantial meals were available and these were served by friendly and helpful staff. Reception... More

Location was excellent, right near main square yet still quiet. Ample parking. Staff at front desk were helpful and friendly. Room had nicely renovated bathroom and had been updated but not to point of being featureless. We had a lovely cream tea here with enormous scones and ample clotted cream. Staff provided it on a complementary basis as their sister... More

I recently enjoyed a meal at The Bedford with friends, none of us had eaten at the hotel before and genuinely couldn't have enjoyed it more! We dined in the restaurant which had a really nice feel about it, the food was great (brasserie style), the staff that served us were all very friendly and not over the top. Couldn't... More

We popped in for an early afternoon snack and bottle of champagne in the modestly sized garden to the side of the hotel. Polite and efficient service, tasty snacks beautifully presented. Also looking at our table neighbours the afternoon teas are rather good too!

Well what can I say. We held our wedding at the Bedford hotel on the 28th June 2014. We were so well looked after from start to finish. The wedding organiser could not of done more to help, the toast master on the day made sure everything went smoothly, the food was delicious, rooms were fantastic and all staff were... More

Good off road private car park with easy walk into the reception area. This was my first stay and I was pleasantly greeted at reception. The room was spacious but dated although the bathroom was modern and well appointed. The bed was comfortable and clean and I enjoyed a quiet nights sleep. The bar area is a typical hotel bar... More

We made an advance booking for the night with our baby and arranged a travel cot for our stay. Our room was located up two flights of stairs and there was no lift. On one of the hottest days of the year I had to get the pram up and down the stairs! Our room was spacious and the decor... More

We had a meal in the Restaurant for the first time and both my husband and myself ordered the rib eye steak. This was thoroughly disappointing. Although the presentation and service was good the steak was cut so thin and it was more like an escalope. At £21.50 per person the price was a total rip-off. We would consider eating... More

Impressive looking place close to centre of Tavistock. Booked here because the hotel I normally stay at was full. Arrival was fairly good, though bit a drag from the car park to reception, receptionist very helpful and room released efficiently. Generally, the hotel has some attractive features, but looking a little tired around the edges. Not a bad stay, apart... More

The Bedford is a great place in the center of a great town. Would I stay there again, YES. The staff is great, friendly, and accommodating. If your looking for a new looking well taken care of hotel, look elsewhere. The building is a historic location originally owned by the Duke of Bedford. Keep in mind the building is several... More
