We only went for a drink, but could have willingly stayed for lunch. Outside seating whilst in a courtyard is still a comfortable and calm place to sit and enjoy a pint or two of the real ales available. Staff are friendly and courteous, the place is clean and comfortable, the big question remains, would we return, yes we would

We stayed at the hotel, as my mother had a major fire at her house, The staff could not have been more accommodating, polite and helpful, in such a stressful situation. There was a vast variety on offer for breakfast and due to being able to sit in the courtyard, as well as the restaurant, it certainly made our stay... More

I called in for lunch today with my Daughter and her family. We were the only people wanting food. We ordered two children's meals, sausage, beans and chips which at £6.95 and four sandwiches at £6.95 and a portion of chips. 45 minutes later they arrived, and it was not worth the wait. The bread was dry and breaking up... More

This is a great location close to the river Thames and the town centre. We had a newly refurbished and lovely executive room let down only by the shower which was just a trickle ! I was told by reception that this was an ongoing problem and they were working on it. Dinner was served in a small room and... More

I am sitting in my room in the George Hotel writing this review. I understand that a refurbishment project is underway but there is no excuse for not cleaning the rooms that aren't presently being furnished. Yes, my bathroom has been cleaned in the important places and yes, the bed linen is clean but that is as far as it... More

Stayed here for one night on Friday, very friendly and efficient from check in till check out. Room was a decent size as was bathroom and had everything you needed. Our room overlooked the courtyard, this wasn't a problem as it was nice to hear people chattering, having a good time. Breakfast probably wasn't the best we've ever had, but... More

Good position, ideal base for shopping, walking along the Thames or sight-seeing. Attractive shady courtyard with comfortable seating great for lunch on a hot summer day as long as you don't mind sitting alongside smokers. We ordered sandwiches with chips, the chicken curry was ok but I thought the prawn and crab were rather bland. Service was good and we... More

I booked two rooms, one for myself and fiancée, one for my daughter, husband and two children under 5 yrs. on entering the hotel we had to walk through a haze of smokers, dirty outside area with tables not cleared and rather tipsy locals who just stare at you. As you can guess this is not the the classiest of... More

I have stayed in this hotel on three occasions, because a relative lives close by. On first viewing, it is quaint, olde worlde, with hanging baskets in the courtyard (& metre-high weeds in the flowerbeds). My first stay, I overlooked the courtyard where people were drinking and talking very late (after midnight) and, since it was high summer, I needed... More
