Friendly staff that made me feel welcome. Quite clean and tidy down stairs and room looked recently decorated. Shame then that the carpet appeared not to have been vaccumed recently, the complimentary crisps and biscuits were 5 weeks out of date and the milk pots were sour. A little annoying also when I purchased a bottle of spring water to... more

Just returned from a night's stay. Lovely hotel in a quiet area. Staff very polite and accommodating. Room was small but beautifully decorated and very clean. Dinner at the restaurant was disappointing and expensive. There were only 8 main course options and 2 of these were unavailable although there was 1 extra item on offer. Vegetables were all bundled into... more

My room was small but the decor was immaculate. The bathroom had a retro-style bathtub on a platform slightly raised from the rest of the floor and was spotless. There was a really nice small bar (with nobody in it) and a really nicely decorated small lounge area as well as a restaurant. I'm amazed at how the similarly-priced hotels... more

My wife and I stayed at the York for our annual One night get away from the kids. The room was huge immaculaty clean and very stylish, the power shower was great and towels and cleaning products were first class. We ate our evening meal in the hotels restaurant and found the food to be of a very high standard.... more

We stayed in the hotels large flat opposite the main hotel. It was excellent, being newly refurbished in a classical style with a hugh 6 foot wide queens bed. The bathroom was ultra mod with a sunken bath and great shower. There was a fully furnished kitchen. We chose to have breakfast in the main hotel which was excellent and... more

Stayed at the York on business for one night. Can echo the other reviews that the room decoration was excellent and clean. Had a large bay room on the front of the hotel and the only improvement would be that the blinds in the room were not adequate to block out the hotel building’s blue lighting. Breakfast was very nice... more

The car park is an issue in busy times but we do have permission to use the Westwood hotels car park opposite our entrance. Also with regards reception we have increased staff and introduced a fast self check out service.

Enjoyed our stay at the York Hotel. Good location, in a nice area of the city, but only 15 minutes walk to the centre. Only downside was the bar being shut when we got in at night, but it was quite late. Rooms well decorated, good facilities & adequate parking. Very good breakfast. Thanks to Paul for his help with... more

My husband and stayed here for between 3 nights in October 2007 - we booked the superior room and were very pleased with the layout, facilities and value for money. I know that some people had issues with lack of hot water during our stay but this wasn’t the case for us. Everywhere was spotless and welcoming and the staff... more

We stayed here for the weekend as we were attending my husband's nephew's wedding in birminham, Hotel is being renovated just now but this did not interfere with our stay at all. We had booked a double superior room (room4) and it was perfect, a very large room with bay windows to the front of the hotel. The bathroom was... more
